National Derby Tips for Trifecta
Punters should have four runners on their ticket for the National Derby trifecta. We recommend taking a boxed percentage trifecta. Spend what you want, and the payouts can be massive.

- Paw Oswald
- Mark to Market
- Zipping Kristoff

National Derby First-Four Tips
We have included five runners for our National Derby first-four. Boxing all five selections for a percentage can still result in a huge payout, and you spend what you want.

National Derby Form Guide & Tips
(1) Zipping Kristoff ($2.50)
He owns six wins from 10 starts, so we’re not surprised that money has come for him throughout the week.
He was beaten by Jungle Johnny last week, which is why he’s not our top pick, but he gets the inside draw and he’ll go close.
(2) West Rock Casey ($14.00)
After opening at $21.00, money has come for West Rock Casey to figure in the finish.
He owns four wins at the track and distance, and getting an inside draw should see him figure in the finish.
The odds could be worth including in first four picks.
(3) Paw Oswald (Best Each Way – $6.00)
Looking to win four consecutive wins is Paw Oswald, who won at Wentworth Park by a length in the heat.
He was too good for Zig Zag Man, who runs at shorter odds, so we’re happy with the each-way value for Paw Oswald.
His best time is good enough to take out the Derby.
(5) Zig Zag Man ($3.60)
We wanted better odds for Zig Zag Man, but he’s running too well to leave him out of calculations.
With four wins and three placings from eight starts, he has a good record, and we’re not leaving him out despite getting a tough draw.
(6) Ritza Benji ($34.00)
His form isn’t good enough to win the National Derby, so we’re leaving him out. His best time isn’t likely to be competitive, especially from the draw.
(7) Jungle Johnny (Best Bet – $3.90)
He was too good for Zipping Kristoff last time out and he’s good enough to repeat that performance.
The one-year-old is still learning the game, and with three wins from nine starts, his future is bright, and he could be a Group 1 type.
Drawing seven isn’t a bad thing, so take the value odds.
(8) Happy Bandit ($19.00)
He has experience on his side but he’s not good enough to win at this level.
(9) Mark to Market (Best Roughie – $15.00)
He got into the field via a scratching and it could pay off. He owns eight wins from 16 starts, and he’s good enough to beat this field.
Luck is needed from trap four, but he could be right there in the thick of the finish.
