National Distance Final Runner-By-Runner Guide
1. Magpie Hector @ $3.30
He cost punters a fair bit last time out, but he didn’t get much luck early in the race, so we’re happy to forgive that effort.
We haven’t made him our best bet, but he got close, and we opted to go with a more reliable beginner. However, he should be in the finish, so don’t leave him out of picks.
2. Miss Envy (Best Bet) @ $2.80
She has yet to race at the track and distance, but she’s almost faultless, so she goes on top of our National Distance Final picks.
Boasting 39 wins from 63 starts, including her last five starts, she is the one to beat, and she should ping the traps and kick away down the back straight.
Punters will get a better sight backing Miss Envy than Magpie Hector, so she goes on top.
3. Beautiful Child @ $6.00
Stringing wins together in Queensland, and it’s tough to rule her out based on form alone.
She is a star in the making with 13 wins from 22 starts, and although she hasn’t been beating the best, her trap speed makes her an attractive type.
It’s a red-hot field, but we’re not leaving her out of our greyhound picks.
4. Bandit Daryl @ $35.00
We’re not interested in the big odds around Bandit Daryl. He’ll get too far back in the run, and he would need a lot of luck to get past this field.
5. Mepunga Lara (Best Roughie) @ $10.00
She comes off a one-length win at Sandown Park, and being used to running at the track and distance makes her a winning hope.
She owns four wins and six placings from 12 starts at the track and distance, and she only needs luck from the trap to go close.
Include her in picks to add some value.
6. Boom Bam Ranger (Best Each-Way) @ $5.50
His last two wins at Wentworth Park were something special, and he can’t be overlooked in National Distance Final markets.
The two-year-old is another greyhound with speed to burn out of the traps, which could make it interesting in the early stages.
If he gets a clean run to the first turn, he’s good enough to win.
7. Without a Trace @ $7.00
It’s not easy to leave out a champion greyhound, but she’s clearly below her best, and mistakes can’t happen in this field.
She could struggle to get into the race from a wide draw, so the $7 is too short for our liking.
8. Don't Tell Tommy @ $35.00
She is running well, but her form comes in Tasmania, and it’s unlikely to show up here, hence the long odds.
9. Paw Lovisa @ $21.00
Needs a scratching to get into the field, but she could get run off her feet either way.
10. Espoir @ $21.00
Solid recent form, but we can’t see her making the final field.
