Sydney Cup Final Form Guide & Tips
(1) Ayden’s Warrior ($5.50)
He is a 20-time winner that finished third behind Without a Trace last start. If he gets a clean jump, he could be good enough to turn the tables on the favourite.
Getting the inside trap is ideal, and if he sits on the pace, he could have enough in the tank to hold them off. Money has come for him, so include him in trifecta and first four picks.
(3) Without a Trace (Best Bet – $1.70)
The standout semifinal winner, who put away a good field with a big run down the back straight.
That was an excellent performance from the Sydney Cup favourite, and we’re happy with the $1.70 odds available for the favourite.
Include her in greyhound picks despite the short odds.
(4) Ginny’s Run ($101.00)
Her form isn’t good enough to compete at the Group 1 level, hence the massive odds. We can’t see her being close enough to them.
(5) Derry ($101.00)
He’s a nice type in the making, but this race might have come a touch too soon for him. We can’t see him figuring in the finish at triple-figure odds.
(6) Firethorn (Best Each Way – $5.50)
The 16-time winner will need a touch of luck from a middle draw, but she has every chance of winning the Sydney Cup.
She owns two wins from four starts at the track and distance, and the $5.50 odds are well worth including in greyhound picks.
We’re loving the price, and luck takes her close.
(7) Late Night News ($7.50)
He’s always tough to discount because of his excellent track and distance record of 14 starts for eight wins, so he goes into the mix.
The two-year-old son of Fernando Bale is knocking on the door of another win after two placings, and with 17 wins on his record, he should go well.
(8) I’m Sally (Best Roughie – $9.00)
Getting $9 for a quality greyhound is good value, and I’m Sally should get every chance from an outside trap.
She’s seeking three consecutive wins after beating Late Night News by 1.5 lengths, and she’s an eight-time winner at the track and distance.
Include her in picks at the odds.
(9) Alakazam ($10.00)
He gets into the field off the ballot, and he’s a three-time winner at the track and distance from five starts.
We’re not sure if he’s up to this level just yet, and the $10 odds are a touch too short.
(10) Paw Quinby ($51.00)
He didn’t run well enough when fifth last time out, and he’s unlikely to get into the field.
