Albury racing tips
—
Race 1. (14:10) Thank You Glenn Chapman Maiden (1400m)
#7 – Sorastorm @ $2.40
Sorastorm turned her form around when running second at Bendigo, which is a good form guide for this race.
The three-year-old daughter of Toronado was only 1.5 lengths behind the talented Pula last time out, so a repeat of that run is ideal.
She’s in good hands and she should run well.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 2. (14:45) DLG Aluminum Maiden (1175m)
#4 – Sargeant Stan @ $2.10
Spelled after running second on debut, Sargeant Stan looks well-placed to make a winning return.
The three-year-old son of Magnus comes off a trial win at Albury, so having experience on the track adds to his appeal.
He’s one of the better bets on the card.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 3. (15:20) Thank You Ann McHardy Maiden (1000m)
#1 – Super Elevation @ $5.00
Super Elevation is on debut after a moderate trial, but he wasn’t asked for much.
The four-year-old son of Choisir gets weight off his back and the ownership group has had its fair share of success.
The odds are good enough to take in an even betting field.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (15:55) Thank You Steve Stewart C1 (2000m)
#8 – Mariner’s Dream @ $8.50
Getting close to a win is Mariner’s Dream, who owns seven placings from 16 starts, so he has been close to the prize.
The son of Merchant Navy has enjoyed the rise to 2000m after placing twice, and he has been working up to this run.
We think it’s time he exited maidens, and punters get value odds.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 5. (16:30) Naughtin Development Group BM58 (1600m)
#1 – Copperfield @ $5.00
We were impressed with the win from Copperfield at Gundagai earlier this preparation, and a repeat of that would be good enough.
The seven-year-old son of Per Incanto is a five-time winner and 17-time placegetter, and some of his best form comes on soft tracks.
He carries a big weight but he has the class advantage.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (17:10) Hutchinson Civil BM66 (1175m)
#5 – Cooee @ $4.80
Ron Stubbs lines up Cooee, who kicked off his career with consecutive wins at Albury.
The six-year-old took some time to get to the races, but the patience has paid off, and he wasn’t far away when third at Wagga last start.
The son of Holler is unbeaten here and he’s good enough to win again.
Stake: 4.5 Units
Race 7. (17:50) Dux Albury C2 (1000m)
#3 – Speedy One @ $1.85
Speedy One is unbeaten from two starts, including a debut win at Scone before winning at Sapphire Coast.
The three-year-old son of Super One won by a half-length as a $1.70 chance, and punters get better odds this time around.
He should be a popular multi bet pick at Albury.
Stake: 4 Units
