Ararat racing tips
—
It’s a little late in the year to be running over 4000m for the highweights, but they all get a chance to score a win on Sunday.
Salsita is our top pick after threatening to win a race multiple times this season, including a second placing at Morphettvillle last time out.
We expect money to come for him on race day.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Prestige Sinpex wasn’t far away when running second on debut at St Arnaud, and although this isn’t an easy maiden field, he has good upside.
The three-year-old son of Anders chased the runaway winner gamely, and it should only do him a world of good for this race.
Look for each-way odds on race day from bookmakers.
Stake: 1 Unit
Burleigh showed good improvement when running third at Horsham last start, which should be an ideal form guide for racing at Ararat.
The three-year-old colt by Blue Point has more promise than most runners in this field and jumping from barrier two is ideal.
Money is likely to come for him, so take the opening odds.
Stake: 2 Units
We’re sticking with the Horsham form and backing Boncapo to win for Ciaron Maher. He ran second on debut, and that race should be a good form guide.
He wasn’t far behind Pinkerton, who we expect to rise through the grades, and being in the Maher stable only helps his chances.
He’s a colt, so expectations are high.
Stake: 2 Units
We’re waiting for Thunder Point to show us something this preparation, and he gets one more chance.
The eight-year-old hasn’t won for over a year, so he’s a take on trust type of horse. However, this isn’t an overly strong BM66 field.
Dean Yendall rides, and he could be looking for a strong rider.
Stake: 1 Unit
Cable Dancer is overdue a win after facing tough fields this preparation, including a third placing at Moonee Valley two back.
The six-year-old son of Cable Bay is a five-time winner, and it shouldn’t take him long to win another race at this level.
We are happy with any odds available on race day.
Stake: 3 Units
Capper Thirtynine keeps looming to win but can’t quite finish it off. However, he gets another chance in the Ararat Bowl.
There is no doubting his ability to perform at a high level, and the five-year-old should enjoy the track conditions at Ararat on Sunday.
Linda Meech rides, and we’re hoping she finds cover from out wide.
Stake: 2 Units
Documentary is another runner that owes loyal punters something, but this is a winnable race for the seven-year-old.
The Nick Ryan-trained son of Bon Hoffa didn’t jump well at Pakenham, but we like the way he found the line late in the piece.
We expect each-way odds on race day.
Stake: 1 Unit
