We have expert betting tips for the card this Saturday at Ascot that features nine quality betting races.
It is the final day of the Perth Group 1 carnival and we have our best value bets for every race.
Ascot horse racing tips
Race 1. (15:19) Tourism WA Trophy (1000m)
#5 – Astrape – Bet @ Sportsbet
Astrape has had the benefit of race day experience, which should hold her in good stead for the opening race.
The Daniel Morton-trained filly ran second on debut at Ascot and we are expecting that form to hold up nicely this season.
William Pike is a key booking and punters will be confident.
Race 2. (15:59) Crown Perth 1MW (1600m)
#11 – Bragwell – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old gelding has made a nice start to his career with a win and two placings. He wasn’t far off a good field at Ascot last start and that form bodes well.
He was only three lengths behind Watch Me Dance and that came in the WA Guineas, where he was a touch unlucky.
Bookmakers could have him at each-way odds, so take the value.
Race 3. (16:39) Tabtouch Better Your Bet BM72 (1100m)
#5 – Long Beach – Bet @ Sportsbet
Long Beach is getting close to returning to winning form after finishing third at Ascot. The Williams-trained gelding is a five-time winner that gets the services of William Pike.
That should give punters confidence heading into this race and he has missed a placing only once from six attempts at this track.
He is classy at best and capable of beating this field.
Race 4. (17:19) Amelia Park BM66 (2200m)
#9 – Mosseratti – Bet @ Sportsbet
Mosseratti doesn’t win all that often but the nine-year-old could give punters a sight at long odds.
The son of Mossman has finished in the money in 28 of his 73 starts and he often pays a great price when he does.
You will need to take him on trust, but at the odds, he’s worth a bet.
Race 5. (17:54) Ascend Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m)
#1 – Chantrea @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Chantrea is unbeaten after six starts and we’re surprising that she isn’t the favourite for this race.
The Lindsay Smith-trained mare will be better over the longer distances, but she is unbeaten over 1400m from two attempts.
Pike is a key booking and we wouldn’t be surprised to see her taking out this race.
Race 6. (18:30) Tabtouch Sir Ernest Lee Steere Stakes (1400m)
#5 – Western Empire @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Western Empire has yet to win from three starts but the Williams-trained gelding looks likely in this race.
He finished fourth behind Watch Me Dance last start and the form in the WA Guineas should stack up nicely in this race.
He had no luck in the run and drawing barrier five with Pike in the saddle could make all the difference on Saturday.
Race 7. (19:10) Glenroy Chaff Scahill Stakes (1400m)
#10 – Celebrity Queen @ $1.95 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Celebrity Queen finished strongly to run second behind Elite Street in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes last Saturday.
She is on the seven-day backup, which is a concern, but connections are confident and she is the class runner of this field.
Her six wins from 11 starts is a great record and it’s another premium ride for William Pike.
Race 9. (20:30) Seacorp 1MW (1200m)
#1 – Agent Jay – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old is gunning for his third consecutive win and we wouldn’t be ruling out the son of Snippetson.
He scored both wins at Bunbury but he has experience at Ascot and getting a 3kg claimer in the saddle is ideal.
He will need luck from barrier 16, but expect him to roll forward and be tough to catch.
