Ascot horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (15:12) Glenroy Chaff Maiden (1600m)
#2 – Yardman – Bet @ Sportsbet
Yardman didn’t show much early in his career but that was a nice performance for second at Ascot last start.
The four-year-old gelding was only two lengths behind the winner and getting barrier two helps his cause on Saturday.
We expect bookmakers to have him firm in the market.
Race 2. (15:52) Vale John Martino BM72 (1800m)
#2 – Phoneme – Bet @ Sportsbet
Phoneme gets another chance after hitting the line nicely for third at Ascot last time out.
The five-year-old scored a win four starts back but he has been a touch expensive for win punters over his last three starts.
Barrier five is ideal and he should be around the mark again.
Race 3. (16:32) Amelia Park 1MW (1800m)
#3 – Queen Takes King – Bet @ Sportsbet
Lindsay Smith lines up the four-year-old mare that owns three wins from only nice career starts.
The daughter of Charm Spirit comes off a second placing at Bunbury and the rise in distance didn’t pose any problems.
She drops back in distance but punters should be confident.
Race 4. (17:08) Tabtouch Better Your Bet BM66 (1600m)
#2 – Fangio – Bet @ Sportsbet
Fangio is shooting for her fifth consecutive after notching another victory at Albany last time out.
The five-year-old daughter of Husson has yet to run at Ascot and it’s a rise in class, but she is unbeaten from three attempts at this distance.
She now owns five wins from 10 starts, so respect her ability.
Race 5. (17:45) Lex Piper Stakes (1600m)
#3 – Western Empire @ $1.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Class is with Western Empire, which has been racing against some tough types throughout his career.
The Williams-trained three-year-old finished third behind Solaia last start, which is 1000 Guineas form.
She broke maidens by 2.3 lengths prior to that and we’re expecting another top effort at short odds.
Race 6. (18:20) Crown Perth 1MW (1800m)
#6 – Tambora – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old gelding scored by 4.5 lengths on debut at Ascot before running second. He got back to form last time out and he could be too good for this field.
A son of Puissance De Lune, he has plenty of improvement to come and rising in distance to 1800m looks ideal.
Expect another big effort and bookies should offer short odds.
Race 7. (18:55) Schweppes Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m)
#1 – Solaia @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Solaia is the form runner of this field having beaten a talented field by 1.5 lengths last time out. She got the better of Kissonallforcheeks, which is stellar form.
She will have to get past the five-strong team from the Williams stable, but her experience counts for plenty on Saturday.
The daughter of Toronado owns four wins from 12 starts, so respect her ability.
Race 8. (19:35) Autumn Racing Carnival 1MW (1400m)
#5 – London Miss – Bet @ Sportsbet
London Miss is a four-time winner from 15 starts and she also has five placings to her name. It’s an impressive record and she owns a win on this track.
The daughter of City Place comes off a one-length win at Pinjarra where she paid $26, but punters should expect much shorter odds on Saturday.
3kg comes off her back to help.
Race 9. (20:12) Byron Bay Premium Lager BM72 (1000m)
#7 – Platinum Bullet – Bet @ Sportsbet
Platinum Bullet was good enough to score back-to-back wins at Ascot earlier this campaign.
The four-year-old mare is a five-time winner overall and three of those have come on this track, so she demands respect.
Barrier seven is ideal and punters could get each-way odds.
