We have expert betting tips for the card this Saturday at Ascot that features nine quality betting races.
It’s Perth Cup day at Ascot and that means plenty of good betting races for punters to enjoy.
Will William Pike dominate the meeting? Or will other jockeys get in on the action?
Ascot horse racing tips
Race 1. (15:24) Better Your Bet Plate (1000m)
#1 – American Choice – Bet Now
Simon Miller lines up the two-year-old filly that scored a maiden win at Ascot last time out.
She’s the only race winner in this field and having that experience under her belt is only going to help.
The daughter of All American does rise in weight from her win but she gets the inside draw and will be tough to beat from there.
Race 2. (16:04) Amelia Park BM61 (1000m)
#4 – Indian Pacific – Bet Now
It was an impressive debut performance from Indian Pacific, which got the job done by two lengths.
The three-year-old gelding by Zoustar sat on the speed and kicked clear at Ascot to record a convincing win.
It’s only going to hold him in good stead for the future and he gets into this race with only 55.5kg on his back.
Chance on that.
Race 3. (16:44) Ascend Sales Trophies BM66 (1600m)
#2 – Megazone – Bet Now
Megazone rarely runs a bad race with 16 starts for four wins and six minor placings.
The four-year-old by Eurozone scored a gutsy win on this track two back before going within a nose of winning last start.
This isn’t a very deep field and with some luck from the draw, he could be right in the thick of the action at each-way odds.
Race 4. (17:24) Mumm Champagne BM62 (2200m)
#1 – Sentimental Gift – Bet Now
It is always tough to overlook the Williams/Pike combination and they team up here with Sentimental Gift.
She’s a consistent four-year-old mare that has yet to miss a win or placing from seven starts this preparation.
She has never finished outside of the placings and we’re expecting that to continue this Saturday, but don’t expect big odds.
Race 5. (18:00) Seppelt The Drives 1MW (1400m)
#10 – Inspirational Girl – Bet Now
Another Williams/Pike runner, the four-year-old mare is unbeaten after two career starts.
She scored both wins at Pinjarra as the odds-on favourite and punters should be expecting a short quote again.
Drawing barrier 15 isn’t going to help her chances but Pike rides and he will likely push forward and try find a nice spot in running.
Race 6. (18:40) La Trice Classic (1800m)
#5 – Midnight Sky – Bet Now
Midnight Sky was just too good for them when scoring by a nose at Ascot last start.
That came over Megazone, so this is a rise in class but she gets in nicely on the weights at 55kg.
She’s a six-time winner that has ability on her day and punters should be getting each-way odds for this class of racing.
Could pay to follow her.
Race 7. (19:20) Furphy Summer Scorcher (1000m)
#6 – Essential Spice – Bet Now
Form is well and truly with Essential Spice after rattling off four consecutive wins coming into this race.
The Pearce-trained mare scored three straight wins at Belmont last preparation before returning from a spell with a win at Ascot.
Having that winning experience on this track will help her here and she can manage the rise in class.
She gets the inside draw and a light weight.
Race 8. (20:00) Perth Cup (2400m)
#7 – Mississippi Delta @ $2.70 – Bet Now
It was a disappointing run from the Williams-trained mare last start but it’s hard to ignore her best form.
She finished ninth in the Group 1 Kingston Town following a win at Ascot by 1.3 lengths. Anything close to that sees her winning this and the early money is with her.
Dropping to 53kg is perfect for the Perth Cup, especially over the longer distance.
She looks the best winning hope.
Race 9. (20:40) Crown Perth BM72 (1200m)
#4 – Festival Miss – Bet Now
Festival Miss is a quality fresh up performer having won two of her three starts in the past.
The Williams-trained four-year-old has finished in the money in nine of her 11 starts and that’s good consistency.
She secured the inside draw and William Pike could end his day on a high.
