Lady Boss is nearing another win after three consecutive placings, and this is a winnable race to open the card.
The five-year-old mare owns three wins and nine placings overall, and although she has yet to race at Ascot, form in Sydney should stack up beautifully.
We expect her to hit the ground running for the new stable.
Stake: 2.5 Units
We’re sticking with Cavallo Red, despite having never won at Ascot in 11 attempts. However, he has placed seven times, and he’s overdue a win.
The six-year-old son of So You Think loves the distance, having posted two wins and five placings, so dropping to 1400m is ideal.
He’s worth another chance in a race that could result in a blanket finish.
Stake: 1 Unit
Punters should get each-way odds for Major Mario, who won earlier this prep at Northam, and his efforts since have been solid enough.
The six-year-old gelding is another runner who has yet to win at Ascot, but he owns five placings from seven attempts, so he’s getting close.
Holly Watson rides, so expect a nice price from bookies.
Stake: 1 Unit
Bringing winning form to the table is Stormageddon, who won at Belmont last start before going to the trials and finishing second.
The Michael Grantham-trained runner is a five-time winner overall, and he doesn’t need to improve much to beat this field on Saturday.
Getting 3kg off his back is enough to take him close.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Looking to get back to winning form is Black Ora, who has made a positive start to her career with five wins from 12 starts.
The four-year-old mare by Playing God won her first two starts this preparation before placing behind Desert Whisper as a $1.90 favourite.
She is good enough to bounce back and score a win on Saturday with William Pike riding.
Stake: 2 Units
It was a successful return for Joker’s Grin, who keeps adding wins to his record. He now owns eight wins from 11 starts, and he’s capable of much more.
The five-year-old son of Maschino has already won over $2.5 million, and he has every chance of winning again in the Colonel Reeves.
The odds will be short, but he’s a good multi bet inclusion.
Stake: 4 Units
Punters get value odds for Twain’s Angel, who is much better than what she showed last time out when running seventh.
The five-year-old mare is a five-time winner at Ascot, so it’s a track she loves, and her best form is good enough to handle this field.
Take the value odds available.
Stake: 1 Unit
Most of the money has come at the top of the market, and we give Playin’it Sweet the advantage over the current favourite.
She has five wins from eight starts, including three wins already this prep, and she can settle handy to the pace and give a good kick.
That’s what she did when beating Talkanco last start, so stick with her.
Stake: 2 Units
Luana Miss has made a good start to her career with three wins from five starts, including a 1.8-length win at Ascot last time out.
That’s why she’s the short favourite to win the Placid Ark Stakes, and we expect her to be too tough to handle.
Barrier five with 55kg on her back is ideal, so include her in horse racing multi picks.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Big bets have come for Storyville after opening at $8.50, and although there is an odds-on favourite, she is primed for an upset.
She won four races early in her career, and it could pay to overlook her recent form. Not everything has gone her way this season.
Getting Pike riding at 54kg off the inside draw means there won’t be any excuses.
Stake: 1 Unit
