Ballarat horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (13:35) Cardno Tgm Maiden Plate (1600m)
#11 – Uniquely @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old filly comes off a second placing at Stawell where she was only a nose behind the winner.
She is a well-bred daughter of Toronado that had been running well without threatening and she looks ready to break through now.
If she gets cover from the wide barrier, she should be right in the finish.
Race 2. (14:10) Whitford Liquid Waste Maiden (1000m)
#6 – Winter Pinter @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Winter Pinter has been well-backed on debut and that is a good sign for a runner with no trials under her belt.
The four-year-old has clearly been showing good things at home after being backed in from $4.50 to $3.70.
It could pay to follow further betting moves for the promising mare.
Race 3. (14:45) Evergreen Turf Maiden (1200m)
#5 – Solistas @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Solistas owns two placings from five starts and one of those came at Ballarat last time out. The Nigel Blackiston-trained gelding was three lengths behind Surecan and that form bodes well.
He doesn’t have much of a field to beat on Wednesday and if jockey Neil Farley can find a good spot in the running, he should be tough to run down.
Punters are getting fair odds and he could start much shorter with bookmakers on race day.
Race 4. (15:20) Hygain Winners Choice BM70 (1200m)
#8 – Corner Pocket @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Corner Pocket comes off back-to-back wins and that form bodes well for this level of racing.
The four-year-old gelding scored a maiden win at Hamilton before doubling down at Moonee Valley in November.
Barrier two is ideal and he has had two starts at Ballarat, so having experience at the track is ideal. He placed in both starts and we like his chances of winning three in a row.
Race 5. (15:55) Porter Plant C1 Handicap (1100m)
#4 – Audacious Heart @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old filly owns a win and four placings from five starts, so she has yet to produce a disappointing effort.
She is a smart daughter of Fastnet Rock that scored a breakthrough win at Sale before running just behind the winner at Cranbourne.
She looks to have a bright future and although there is more depth to this field, she should be right in the mix.
Race 6. (16:30) Sportsbet Makes It Easy BM64 (1400m)
#13 – Insaaf @ $9 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Insaaf comes off an inconsistent campaign, but the three-year-old looks to have plenty of ability.
The daughter of Pride of Dubai comes off a third placing at Morphettville and her recent trial form has been solid.
Barrier 13 isn’t ideal for this race but Zac Spain is a capable rider and he could find cover. If she gets a good spot in the running, expect her to finish off strongly.
Race 7. (17:05) Hygain Winners Choice BM70 (1600m)
#13 – Under My Spell @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old mare comes off a tidy second placing at Sandown and that form bodes well for this contest.
She is a daughter if Pierro that has form behind Zousonic and that is city-class form, so she looks ready to score her second career victory.
Bookmakers have kept her safe in the betting and carrying 55kg is ideal.
