Bathurst racing tips

Race 1. (12:55) Thank You to Our Directors Maiden (1100m)

#9 – Sapphire Rose @ $3.30

Sapphire Rose comes from the powerful Bjorn Baker stable, and her trial form looks good enough to handle this race.

The two-year-old daughter of Blue Point won a trial at Warwick Farm before placing there and at Rosehill, so that form checks out.

With 55kg on her back, she should go well on debut.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (13:35) Thank You to Our Trainers Maiden (1200m)

#5 – Majestic Roca @ $6.00

Majestic Roca hasn’t been too far away in three career starts, including a fifth at Albury last time out.

The three-year-old son of El Roca has changed stable, and a new environment could see his form improve quickly.

We’re happy to take the value odds from bookmakers.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (14:10) Thank You to Our Patrons Maiden (1400m)

#8 – Stonegate Lane @ $4.40

Punters get each-way odds for Stonegate Lane, who has two placings this preparation, including a third at Sapphire Coast last start.

The four-year-old son of Ribchester has form in heavy conditions and getting 1.5kg off his back is enough to make a difference.

His odds are shortening, so take the current price.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (14:45) Thank You to Our Staff BM66 (1100m)

#3 – Crusader Kings @ $2.80

The four-year-old gelding by Dissident won well on debut at Mornington before finishing fourth at Pakenham and Wellington.

He didn’t mind the wet conditions last time out, and we expect him to handle the heavy conditions based on his breeding.

He’s another well-backed runner and with good reason.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 5. (15:20) Thank You to Our Foft Sponsors BM58 (1800m)

#4 – Avonview @ $6.00

Avonview is only a two-time winner from 23 starts, but he has been around the mark throughout his career.

The five-year-old son of Pierro also owns six placings, and after opening at $8, money has come for him late.

It’s an open field, so he’s worth including in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (15:55) Thank You Bathurst RSL Club BM74 (1400m)

#11 – Bonus Tempus @ $5.50

Bonus Tempus is working towards a win after placing at Sapphire Coast, which should be a tidy form guide for this race.

The five-year-old son of Impending is having his 52nd start, and although he’s only a two-time winner, he is never too far away from the prize.

Dropping to 53.5kg could make enough difference to see him win.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (16:35) Thank You to Our Race Sponsors BM58 (1200m)

#2 – Champers Girl @ $4.80

Punters get each-way odds with Champers Girl, who hasn’t won this prep, but she has faced some tough fields.

She ran poorly at Canterbury before bouncing back with fifths at Tamworth and Mudgee, so those efforts are solid form guides.

Barrier five suits, and it’s not an overly tough field.

Stake: 2 Units
