Belmont horse racing tips

Race 1. (14:02) Free Entry to Belmont BM78 (2200m)

#1 – Marocchino – Bet @ Sportsbet

The four-year-old gelding has rattled off four consecutive wins with the last two coming at Ascot.

He is a son of Maschino that now owns six wins and five placings from 24 starts, so he’s in career-best form.

Having William Pike in the saddle helps and we’re expecting another win.

Race 2. (14:42) Vale Jimmy Gallagher Plate (1000m)

#3 – Bopping Blue – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Adam Durrant-trained two-year-old gelding comes off a trial win at Lark Hill and he showed good speed.

He comes from a powerful stable and the booking of William Pike should be enough to see him open as the favourite.

He takes on a three-time race winner, so he’ll need to be good.

Race 3. (15:22) Tabtouch Westspeed 0MW (1600m)

#3 – Born to Try – Bet @ Sportsbet

Born to Try scored a win three back at Ascot and followed it up with back-to-back second placings.

The four-year-old mare has finished in the first three in 10 of her 14 career starts, which is a tremendously consistent record.

It’s another good ride for William Pike and he could start his day off in style.

Race 4. (16:02) Glenroy Chaff 1MW (1600m)

#1 – Kia Ora Star – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kia Ora Star has rediscovered his zest for racing after winning at Bunbury and Albany in two of his last three starts.

The seven-year-old had been struggling to show his best, but he always runs well at Belmont and getting 2kg off his back is ideal.

Expect another tidy effort at each-way odds.

Race 5. (16:45) CTS Low Loaders 1MW (1200m)

#3 – Universal Pleasure – Bet @ Sportsbet

Universal Pleasure has been impressive in winning her last four races and that form could continue on Saturday.

The daughter of Universal Ruler fought nicely to win at Ascot last start and form out of that race should stack up nicely.

2kg comes off her back and we’re expecting another top effort.

Race 6. (17:20) Amelia Park BM62 (1300m)

#8 – Timely Outburst – Bet @ Sportsbet

Timely Outburst is unbeaten after three starts and it’s tough to ignore that form. She won at Ascot last start by 1.3 lengths and she wasn’t asked to do much.

The daughter of Sessions has an apprentice in the saddle, which provides weight relief, so running at the light weight helps.

It could pay to watch late betting moves with this runner.

Race 7. (17:55) Crown Perth BM72 (1600m)

#6 – Staralign – Bet @ Sportsbet

The stars have aligned for the five-year-old gelding this season after scoring two wins from three starts.

He is a seven-time winner overall and he defeated a field of 15 at Ascot by 1.8 lengths last start, which isn’t easy to do.

His consistency makes him a good bet and we would take the odds available with bookmakers.

Race 8. (18:25) Skyracing Provincial Championship BM60 (1400m)

#9 – Jarman @ $18 – Bet @ Sportsbet

$18 for Jarman is a good price and the five-year-old gelding is capable of running a big race.

The son of Skilled comes off a third placing at Kalgoorlie and his best form comes over this distance, so punters should expect a good effort.

Paul Harvey rides and he could get the job done.

Race 9. (18:55) Heineken 3 BM66 (1300m)

#2 – Magniforce – Bet @ Sportsbet

Magniforce comes off back-to-back wins at Kalgoorlie and although facing a field with more depth, he is good enough to handle it.

The son of Magnus is a nine-time winner overall and although yet to win at Belmont, he is a four-time winner over this distance.

Keep him safe and punters should get each-way odds.
