Belmont horse racing tips
Race 1. (14:43) Glenroy Chaff Plate (1200m)
#4 – Red Fifty Three – Bet @ Sportsbet
Red Fifty Three scored by a half-length on debut at Belmont and he’s capable of going back-to-back.
The son of Gingerbread Man capped off solid trial form with the win, so he’s got gears and having William Pike in the saddle only helps his chances.
Punters should expect short odds on race day.
Race 2. (15:19) Free Entry to Belmont Park (1400m)
#2 – Traded Crown – Bet @ Sportsbet
Looking to cap off consistent form is Traded Crown, who has rattled off four consecutive placings.
The five-year-old owns two placings at Belmont, and although yet to win from 11 attempts, it’s only a matter of time before he wins.
It’s not the strongest field and he can take advantage.
Race 3. (15:59) Amelia Park BM72 (1000m)
#1 – State Attorney – Bet @ Sportsbet
State Attorney is only a four-time winner from 35 starts, but most of its top performances have come at Belmont.
The seven-year-old needs a confidence boost after not winning for a while, but he’s capable of getting back to his best form on Saturday.
Punters should get value odds.
Race 4. (16:38) Tabtouch Platinum 0MW (1400m)
#4 – Justhandy – Bet @ Sportsbet
Justhandy looks better than handy after winning three of her last five starts. The four-year-old mare owns three wins and three placings from 14 starts, so the class is there.
She won narrowly on this track last start, which backed up a 1.3-length victory on this track. It’s solid form for this level of racing, so stick with her.
Race 5. (17:20) Ascend Sales Trophies 1MW (1000m)
#8 – Come Magic – Bet @ Sportsbet
Come Magic looked good when running second fresh up at Belmont, and she’s capable of going one better.
The four-year-old has yet to win a race, so she’s taking on race winners, but carrying 54kg could offset that problem.
It also helps having William Pike in the saddle.
Race 6. (17:55) Crown Towers 1MW (1600m)
#1 – Giant Leap – Bet @ Sportsbet
Giant Leap hasn’t done much wrong this campaign and we’re confident the gelding can figure in the finish.
The Williams-trained five-year-old is a two-time winner at Belmont, including fresh up when scoring by a half-length.
His form since has been solid enough to be competitive in this company.
Race 7. (18:30) Farnley Stakes (1400m)
#7 – Notorious One @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Carrying 54kg brings Notorious One into contention against a tough field. The current favourite has won three of his last four starts, including a one-length win last time out.
He owns five wins from six starts at Belmont, so he loves the track, and money has come for him since markets opened on Wednesday.
Expect another top effort.
Race 8. (19:05) Schweppes BM66 (1400m)
#5 – Miss Marietta – Bet @ Sportsbet
Miss Marietta didn’t fire last start and she struggles at Belmont, but we’re giving her another chance at this level.
The six-year-old owns seven wins, so she has class on her side, and punters should get value each-way odds.
Watch for a late market push.
Race 9. (19:35) Seacorp BM66 (1200m)
#1 – Puli – Bet @ Sportsbet
Puli scored back-to-back wins at Belmont earlier this preparation before finishing second in heavy conditions last start.
He is a six-time winner from 15 starts, including four on this track. The statistics read well and with six wins coming over 1200m, he is the testing material.
The only problem is the 62kg, but he should go close.
