Blue Diamond Stakes Form Guide & Tips
1. Ideas Man ($61) Bet Now
Ideas Man scored a good win on debut at Moonee Valley but didn’t do enough last time out. He’s a nice type in the making but he really needed to run down Mildred at Caulfield to be considered a winning chance.
2. Hanseatic (Best Bet – $2.70) Bet Now
Hanseatic deserves to be favourite and he’s going to be very tough to beat. The Anthony Cummings-trained colt produced a huge effort to run down Rulership in the Preview and he ran some sizzling sectionals.
It was his third consecutive win and he looks to have the most scope of any runner in this field. Take the odds offered.
3. Rathlin ($20) Bet Now
He owns plenty of experience with five starts but that includes only one win and two placings. There has been solid money for him at each-way odds, but we can’t see the colt winning.
He did make good ground last start, so he’s a place chance on that effort.
4. Tanker ($61) Bet Now
Tanker was an impressive winner on debut but he has been found out since. His efforts since his debut win haven’t been good enough and he looks outclassed against this talented field.
5. Tagaloa ($18) Bet Now
The ability is there but he might need to find a half-length to get the better of Hanseatic. He was finishing off nicely at Caulfield last start, so the rise to 1200m should help his cause.
Drawing barrier four is ideal and he’s not without a winning chance.
6. Rulership (Best Each Way – $6) Bet Now
Rulership was only narrowly run down by Hanseatic last start and he could turn the tables. The Snowden-trained colt makes his own luck in front and that can often be the winning of this race.
Punters will get a good sight from Rulership and he just might end up being the better horse. The $6 is a good win price and the $2.20 place price is even better.
7. Glenfiddich ($61) Bet Now
He should be paying triple-figure odds. The colt has yet to win from four starts and has placed only once. He ran fifth against similar opposition last start but that exceeded expectations.
We can’t see him threatening.
8. Away Game (Best Roughie – $10) Bet Now
Away Game won the Magic Millions with ease and the form out of that race should hold up well at this level. She showed her class when winning at Randwick last start, which was a gutsy effort.
There’s no denying her will to win and she could rise to another level for this race.
9. A Beautiful Night ($26) Bet Now
We were keen on A Beautiful Night last start at Caulfield but she showed very little in the run to the line. She didn’t get all favours in the run after being hampered at the start, but she needed to show us more to be tipped here.
Don’t give up on her completely and the $26 could be entertained.
10. Aryaaf ($23) Bet Now
The Lindsay Park-trained filly didn’t do too much wrong last start and her maiden win at Flemington was top class.
She’s an intriguing type and we certainly wouldn’t be ruling out her chances.
11. Letzbeglam ($6.50) Bet Now
Creating a good impression last start was Letzbeglam. The daughter of Snitzel won by 2.3 lengths as an outsider and there has been good betting support for this run.
She’s an interesting runner that has the chance to win and we would follow any strong betting moves come race day.
12. Muntaseera ($9.50) Bet Now
Beaten by a couple of these so far and we don’t think she’s good enough to turn that form around. Drawing barrier 13 doesn’t help and we thought she would be paying longer odds.
We can’t rule her out but look for odds around $15 before playing.
13. Personal ($18) Bet Now
Personal got off the mark when winning at Flemington last start but that form doesn’t appear strong enough to win at this level.
Craig Williams rides and she jumps from a good barrier, but we would prefer to see her in something a little easier than the Blue Diamond Stakes.
14. Riverina Storm ($41) Bet Now
A winner on debut at Geelong, it’s unlikely that the filly will be good enough to win this race. She ran fourth at Caulfield last start and would need to make up around four lengths.
16. Difficult ($201) Bet Now
$201 to win and it should be difficult for Difficult to take this one out.
