Canterbury horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (12:50) Hyland Race Colours Maiden (1200m)

#1 – Kiku – Bet Now

The Chris Waller-trained filly finished only a head behind Panna Cotta on debut and that form lines up nicely for this week.

It was a tough maiden race at Randwick and she’s going to be a fit runner backing up after only seven days.

She only needs a good ride to be competitive.

Race 2. (13:25) Too Darn Hot @ Darley Maiden Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Achiever – Bet Now

We’re going with race experience and the colt went fairly on debut. Trained by Chris Waller, the two-year-old colt finished second at Rosehill and although 4.5 lengths behind the winner, it was a good effort.

He’s only going to improve with time and having Nash Rawiller in the saddle from barrier two is ideal.

Race 3. (14:00) Star Turn @ Vinery Maiden (1550m)

#3 – Blueant – Bet Now

Blueant didn’t have much luck when running second at Kembla Grange last start. He finished over four lengths behind the winner but he got too far back in the run.

It was his second placing from two starts and the son of Smart Missile deserves a winning turn this campaign.

Jason Collett teams up for the ride and he should go well.

Race 4. (14:35) Iron Jack BM70 (1900m)

#6 – Flinders – Bet Now

Flinders scored his first win last start and although he leaps to rating 70, he looks capable of handling it.

The Waller-trained gelding scored by a half-length at Warwick Farm in heavy conditions and he should perform better in these conditions.

It’s good to see James McDonald in the saddle and that should drive his odds down on race day.

Race 5. (15:10) Sky Racing Active BM72 (1550m)

#3 – Regimental Band – Bet Now

Regimental Band isn’t the most consistent type but she has ability and we’re sticking with her. The three-year-old filly finished last at Randwick but it came in Group 3 level.

Dropping back to midweek grade is going to help her chances and she owns form around some very nice types.

It’s another good ride for James McDonald and punters could get each-way odds.

Race 6. (15:45) Schweppes BM72 (1550m)

#6 – Lancer – Bet Now

Lancer is coming off three consecutive placings and he should be tough to beat here. The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding doesn’t need to improve too much to take this out.

The son of Sepoy will likely ride the speed and although he has been settling back in his races, expect the usual Waterhouse tactics to come out to play.

It’s a tough field so punters should get good odds.

Race 7. (16:20) Tab BM74 (1100m)

#7 – Adelong – Bet Now

Adelong won her first three races before running second at Randwick last start. The talented mare wasn’t quick enough to keep up with Lashes, but that’s stellar form for this field.

Her first three wins were all impressive outings and she enters this race having won a trial by a length at Hawkesbury.

Betting will be interesting but we’re expecting loads of support for her fresh up.

Race 8. (16:55) Ranvet Power Formula BM70 (1200m)

#9 – Warfare – Bet Now

The Snowden-trained colt is a two-time winner and he might have gone to another level with the win last start.

He scored by a half-length at Kembla Grange and he had to sprout wings late to get up. It was an impressive display and he should be able to rise through the grades now.

Drawing barrier six is ideal and we like his chances.
