Canterbury Racing Tips for Wednesday, April 22nd 2026

We have expert betting tips for racing at Canterbury on Wednesday, which includes eight races at the quality meeting.

Punters get good value odds for the New South Wales meeting, and we have betting tips for every race on the card.

Race 1. (12:50) The Agency Real Estate Maiden (1900m)

#6 – Scoop the Pool @ $3.60

Money has come for Scoop the Pool after posting three consecutive placings this preparation.

The Tom Charlton-trained gelding placed at Scone before adding two placings at Newcastle, and getting James McDonald in the saddle helps.

It’s a tough field, but he shouldn’t take much longer to win.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (13:25) Kia Ora Bloodlines to Headlines Maiden (1100m)

#4 – Events @ $2.50

Ciaron Maher lines up Events, who finished second on debut at Rosehill behind Hellabella.

That form line should hold up nicely in this race for the three-year-old daughter of Lonhro, who is bred to be better than average.

Getting the inside draw is enough to take her close.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (14:00) Tab Maiden (1250m)

#11 – Loera @ $2.50

Loera didn’t lose any admirers on debut when running second at Rosehill, and she will likely find the front from a wide barrier.

The Waterhouse/Bott-trained filly has the best front-running jockey in the saddle, and he could dictate the pace of the race.

It’s not an easy maiden field, but she won’t take long to win.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (14:35) Ranvet BM78 (1900m)

#2 – Wrathful @ $3.50

Wrathful is nearing a win after three consecutive placings, and he went close at Rosehill last time out behind No Drama.

The seven-year-old is taking his time to win another race, but he could enjoy running at Canterbury for the first time in his career.

It’s another good ride for McDonald, who could bounce back from a tough Saturday.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (15:10) Asahi Super Dry BM64 (1550m)

#3 – Spanish Artist @ $2.40

Spanish Artist showed good speed to win on debut at Kembla Grange before placing at Rosehill last time out behind Little Iris.

We expect that form to hold up nicely for this level of racing, and we’re not surprised to see money come for the Waterhouse/Bott runner.

Look for her to settle handy and give a good kick at the top of the straight.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (15:45) Hellbent at Yarraman BM78 (1250m)

#3 – Winston Hills @ $5.00

Matthew Smith lines up Winston Hills, who has yet to finish worse than second in two starts at Canterbury.

The six-year-old son of Invader owns three wins and seven placings overall, and there has been money for him after opening at $6.

His recent trial form bodes well, so bet on him with confidence.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 7. (16:20) Irresistible Pools & Spas BM72 (1100m)

#11 – Fiorenza @ $5.00

Looking to improve on a fresh up fourth at Hawkesbury is Fiorenza, who hit the line well after getting too far back in the run.

The five-year-old mare by Kingman finished second at her only start at Canterbury, and Rachel King could settle her handy to the pace.

54.5kg on her back should give her every hope.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (16:55) Exceedance at Vinery Stud BM64 (1250m)

#5 – Blitzgal @ $2.70

Blitzgal couldn’t have been more impressive when winning by 3.8 lengths on debut, and although dropping in distance isn’t ideal, raw ability takes her close.

The Waller-trained filly showed good acceleration to win, and if she is anywhere near that on Wednesday, she could remain unbeaten.

The $2.70 could firm to around $2 on race day, so jump on the odds.

Stake: 2 Units
