Canterbury racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:50) Myplates Handicap (1250m)
#1 - Central Coast @ $1.60

Central Coast was beaten by his stablemate and outsider on debut, but it was still a good run in defeat.
The Chris Waller-trained colt finished second at Canterbury as an odds-on favourite, and the expensive type should bounce back.
The inside draw is ideal, so take the short odds and include him in multis.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 2. (13:25) Ranvet Maiden (1250m)
#6 - Straight Sets @ $3.30

Straight Sets is on debut after winning two trials at Warwick Farm and Rosehill, so she could hit the ground running.
The two-year-old filly by Prague is bred to be better than average, and although taking on more experienced runners isn’t easy, she has upside.
Money is likely to come for her on race day.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 3. (14:00) Maurice at Arrowfield Maiden (1550m)
#4 - So Long Farewell @ $5.50

So Long Farewell hasn’t been too far away from breaking through, including a good second placing two back at Randwick.
The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding followed it up with a fourth at Kembla Grange, and he could turn that form around to win.
Running on a firmer track should only increase his chances of winning.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (14:35) Tab Maiden (1250m)
#6 - Wa Wa Wa @ $3.90

Wa Wa Wa proved costly for win punters during his first preparation, but after posting three placings, he’s knocking on the door.
The three-year-old son of Deep Field placed at Randwick, Canterbury, and Rosehill, so having form on the track adds to his appeal.
$3.90 is a fair price from bookmakers, so include him in picks.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 5. (15:10) Ole Kirk at Vinery Stud BM72 (1900m)
#11 - Anderson Bridge @ $7.00

Punters need to keep the faith with Anderson Bridge, who didn’t fire in heavy conditions at Rosehill last time out.
The four-year-old son of Savabeel is only a one-time winner from 16 starts, but he’s better than his record suggests.
Punters get each-way odds, and there is some interest there.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 6. (15:45) Vinnie Three-Time Champion Sire BM72 (1200m)
#10 - Harry’s Bar @ $5.00

Harry’s Bar wasn’t far away when third fresh up at Rosehill, and she loves running at Canterbury with two starts for a win and a placing.
The daughter of Harry Angel has been around the mark throughout her career, and the each-way odds are better than expected.
Barrier two is ideal, so include her in all bets.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (16:20) Traffic Warden at Darley BM72 (1550m)
#8 - Nana’s Wish @ $6.50

It’s about time Nana’s Wish got back to winning form after finishing fourth in two starts this campaign.
The Maher-trained mare comes from Victoria with solid enough form to compete at Canterbury and getting 2kg off her back helps.
She’s another each-way runner worth backing.
Stake: 1 Unit
