Race 1. (14:50) ANZ Bloodstock News Maiden (1100m)
#7 – Papal Warrior – Bet Now
Peter and Paul Snowden lines up a smart type here which ran third on debut when finishing a length behind the winner.
The two-year-old colt by Fastnet Rock has since scored two impressive trial wins, including last time out at Rosehill by 4.5 lengths.
That’s a very good sign coming into this and despite the tough draw, we’re expecting a stack of money to come.
Race 2. (15:25) Australian Turf Club Maiden (1100m)
#1 – Aquitaine – Bet Now
James Cummings lines up the two-year-old filly which will need luck from out deep, but she has the talent.
The daughter of Exceed And Excel finished a close behind on debut behind Blazing Miss and punters should see that form holding up well at this level.
She’s bred for speed and with some early luck from barrier 14, she’ll be right in the thick of the action again.
Race 3. (14:00) Star Turn BM70 (1900m)
#11 – Milunka – Bet Now
Milunka is coming off a one-length win at Canterbury last start and she might be the type that kicks on with it now.
Trained by Chris Waller, she finished second behind Sedgemoor prior to that and although it hasn’t performed well since, Milunka looks a better chance.
Drawn well in barrier five and she should be well-backed in the betting.
Race 4. (14:35) Ranvet Salkavite BM70 (1900m)
#7 – Austria – Bet Now
Austria continues to run well enough to capture our attention. The Waller-trained ex-New Zealand runner has been expensive for punters to date, but could repay the loyalty.
She’s a four-year-old mare which finished a close third behind Loveisili last start and that should be a strong form guide for this grade.
It’s only a matter of time before she wins a race in Australia and we’ll continue to back her until she does.
Race 5. (15:10) TAB Rewards BM70 (1250m)
#6 – Brazilica – Bet Now
Brazilica is a promising type which scored an impressive debut win at Randwick last year before running third last time out.
She has been given a much-needed spell and her recent trial was a fourth placing behind Sylvia’s Mother, which raced last Saturday at Rosehill.
She’s a royally-bred filly which might need some time this campaign but off the inside draw, we’re not going to risk her.
Race 6. (15:45) Ribchester @ Darley BM70 (1200m)
#5 – Embracer – Bet Now
Embracer was a little disappointing last time out at Warwick Farm but he went out too hard and faltered late.
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained colt looked much better prior to that when winning by 1.3 lengths at Warwick Farm and if he’s able to get a soft lead, he’s going to be tough to hold out.
Showing barrier pace should be considered a positive and he could control the pace this time around and kick clear at the top of the straight.
Race 7. (16:20) Canterbury League Club BM70 (1550m)
#8 – Plenty – Bet Now
Plenty is knocking on the door of another win after being just behind the winners this preparation.
The Waller-trained gelding is only a one-race winner from 12 starts but he ran a close fourth last start and looks ready to win another race.
He gets a good barrier draw of two and with Blake Shinn in the saddle, expect a tidy effort at each-way odds.
