We have expert betting tips for the card this Wednesday at Canterbury that features seven quality betting races.
There are some value types racing in Sydney and we have our best value bets available.
Canterbury horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (12:50) Grainshaker Vodka Maiden (1250m)
#2 – Alberich – Bet @ PlayUp
Alberich is on debut for the powerful Chris Waller team and he comes off a narrow trial win at Rosehill.
The son of Snitzel scored by a nose over Himalaism and a trial winner from this stable always bodes well on debut.
With James McDonald still in Europe, Chad Schofield takes over the riding duties and we expect plenty of money to come for him on race day.
Race 2. (13:25) Tab Maiden Handicap (1250m)
#8 – Pozesana – Bet @ PlayUp
We’re going with another Waller-trained debutante in Pozesana, who hasn’t been asked for much in two trials.
The two-year-old filly by Deep Field didn’t beat a runner home in her first trial before finishing third at Rosehill earlier this month.
Having Hugh Bowman riding adds to her value.
Race 3. (14:00) Ranvet Maiden Plate (1250m)
#3 – Roma Avenue – Bet @ PlayUp
Roma Avenue didn’t do much wrong when placing in consecutive races last preparation and he has looked good at the trials since.
The Mark Newnham-trained three-year-old ran second at Hawkesbury last start before winning a trial at Randwick by 4.3 lengths, which was an effortless display.
It’s not an easy field but he has more upside than most.
Race 4. (14:35) Schweppes Maiden Plate (1550m)
#6 – Grecian Lass – Bet @ PlayUp
Grecian Lass is knocking on the door after three placings and this isn’t an overly tough maiden field.
The three-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock hit the line impressively when running second at Muswellbrook last start and she needs only luck from the wide barrier.
It’s another good ride for Bowman and we expect plenty of money to come for her on race day.
Race 5. (15:10) City Tattersalls Group BM72 (1900m)
#7 – Sprout Wings @ $4.60 – Bet @ PlayUp
The Matthew Smith-trained four-year-old is already a two-time winner at Canterbury and she defeated a good field last start.
She won at Canterbury by a narrow margin, which made her a two-time winner on the track and she could add to her record on Wednesday.
Getting the inside draw is ideal and punters get each-way odds.
Race 6. (15:45) Ghaiyyath @ Darley BM72 (1200m)
#8 – Showtime Lady @ $5 – Bet @ PlayUp
Showtime Lady didn’t fire at Rosehill last time out but she was pulled up and she has since won a trial.
The four-year-old daughter of Showcasing won at Gosford prior to that by 1.8 lengths and her recent trial win at Warwick Farm is a good sign.
We’re not surprised by the money coming for her in early markets.
Race 7. (16:20) Vinery Yearlings BM72 (1550m)
#2 – Camaguey – Bet @ PlayUp
Camaguey is threatening to win at Canterbury after three consecutive placings, including two on the track.
The James Cummings-trained three-year-old owns two second placings at the distance as well, so the statistics read well.
Heavy tracks are no problem and getting barrier four is ideal.
