We have expert betting tips for the card this Wednesday at Canterbury that features six quality betting races.
It is only a small card at Canterbury this week but punters are getting good value races.
Canterbury horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (13:25) Hyland Eofy Sale Maiden (1550m)
#6 – Zounate @ $8 – Bet Now
Zounate runs at value odds after placing in four of his first seven starts. Trained by Gary Portelli, the three-year-old gelding is coming off a close placing at Hawkesbury and there isn’t much wrong with that form.
The son of Zoustar shows good barrier speed, which is always a positive and he is good enough to lead throughout the 1550m race.
$8 is a great price from bookmakers and he could start the day with a bang.
Race 2. (14:00) All Too Hard @ Vinery Maiden (1250m)
#1 – Gunnamatta @ $2.80 – Bet Now
The Freedman-trained two-year-old didn’t lose any admirers on debut and he should build nicely on that effort.
The son of Headwater finished second behind Scenic Warrior at Warwick Farm and it bodes well for his future. We are expecting the form to stack up nicely out of that race and punters have come for him early.
Drawing barrier four should see him land in a good spot and show a good kick in the straight.
Race 3. (14:35) Harry Angel @ Darley Maiden (1250m)
#3 – Global Queen @ $3.30 – Bet Now
The two-year-old filly by Snitzel has made an impression at the trials and she could make a winning debut.
Trained by Team Snowden, Global Queen has won her last two trials at Wyong and Randwick, which bodes well for this race. Her most recent trial win came by two lengths, so she has class on her side.
Expect the $3.30 to shorten throughout the week and having James McDonald in the saddle helps.
Race 4. (15:10) Ranvet Power BM70 (1550m)
#8 – Dream Runner @ $4.80 – Bet Now
Unbeaten after two starts, Dream Runner makes the rise in class now. The three-year-old scored both wins at Canberra and they both came relatively easily.
His debut win came by 2.5 lengths and he backed that up with a 1.3-length win as the odds-on favourite earlier this month.
He is facing a serious rise in class but big money has come his way and market confidence is a good sign.
Race 5. (15:45) TAB BM70 (1100m)
#8 – Best Stone @ $5 – Bet Now
Best Stone is a proven winner that enters this race with back-to-back wins. The three-year-old filly scored wins at Canterbury and although drawn wide here, she just needs luck.
The daughter of I Am Invincible has yet to finish outside of the first three and we are surprised at the $5 on offer.
If she had drawn a gate, she would have been paying around $3, so take the value on offer.
Race 6. (16:20) Calyx @ Coolmore BM70 (1900m)
#6 – Tepario @ $5.50 – Bet Now
Searching for three consecutive wins is Tepario, which scored two narrow victories at Hawkesbury.
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained mare sits on the pace and gives a good kick in the straight. She also scored back-to-back trial wins at Randwick, showing that she can mix it in the city.
Punters are getting value odds and drawing barrier two should see her land on the speed once again.
