Canterbury horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (14:00) XXXX BM72 (1550m)
#6 – Green Flash @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Green Flash has loads of potential and that is reflected in betting markets. The Chris Waller-trained son of Redoute’s Choice has excellent form guides for this race.
He finished fourth behind Head Legislator and Promise of Success last start, and that form has been franked at a high level.
Despite opening at $2.90 and drifting to $3.10, we expect plenty of money to come for him on race day.
Race 2. (14:35) Precise Air BM72 (1250m)
#6 – Norwegian Bliss @ $1.75 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The unbeaten four-year-old mare has looked good at provincial levels, and the $1.75 is the best price she has paid so far.
She has won at $1.55 and $1.65 so far, and those wins came easily. The daughter of El Roca won by 2.3 lengths on debut before scoring by 3.8 lengths at Newcastle.
Her opening odds of $1.95 were taken straight away, so we’re expecting a top effort.
Race 3. (15:10) Vinery BM68 (1100m)
#5 – Zarastro @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
We thought Zarastro would be much shorter in betting markets, so we’re happy to take the value available.
The Waller-trained three-year-old finished second behind Paulele on debut, which is an excellent form guide for this level of racing.
He has since won a trial at Rosehill against a smart field, so that is another good sign. We would like to see a betting push on race day, but he passes the eye test.
Race 4. (15:50) Keeneland BM72 (1250m)
#4 – Speed Legend @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Les Bridge-trained gelding went to Hong Kong but has since returned and he looks ready to fire.
He scored a trial win at Randwick before running second behind Blaze a Trail, which should be a top form guide for midweek racing.
2kg comes off his back with the claim from Brock Ryan, and although he has been off the scene for a while, there has been steady betting confidence.
Race 5. (16:30) Tab BM72 (1900m)
#1 – True Marvel @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
True Marvel comes off a 3000m win at The Valley, and despite the drop in distance, he is still a winning chance here.
The six-year-old is a six-time winner from 27 starts, and he’s in career-best form having won his last two.
2kg comes off his back and punters get value odds.
Race 6. (17:10) Harry Angel @ Darley BM72 (1100m)
#9 – Tiny @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The James Cummings-trained four-year-old is a two-time winner who looks close to scoring again.
She finished second at Warwick Farm fresh up behind Six Again, and the daughter of Lonhro should be better with that run under her belt.
Tim Clark is riding in good form and punters get value odds for Tiny.
