Pictor has attracted attention down in the book, which isn’t too uncommon with the Waller/McDonald combination.
The three-year-old colt by Written Tycoon kicked things off with a second placing at Randwick behind Grand Prairie, finishing just a nose behind.
That’s a very good form guide for midweek racing.

Shangri La Boy has been well-prepared at the trials, including a win at the Randwick trials last time out.
The three-year-old colt by Pierro is bred to be better than most of these, and punters get better odds than expected.
Look for him to roll forward and be tough to run down.
Stake: 1 Unit
Money has come for Just a Journey, who resumed from a spell with a handy second placing at Warwick Farm.
The three-year-old filly by Justify owns two wins and two placings from five starts, which is a tidy record, and she doesn’t need to improve to win here.
Take the $2.05 and include her in horse racing multis.
Stake: 2 Units
Sunset Park is showing good form this preparation, including a win at Hawkesbury and a placing at Rosehill.
The five-year-old mare by Sea the Stars shows good barrier speed, which is always a positive, and she could lead throughout.
We’re happy to include her in our each-way picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
Money has come for Hidden Motive, which is hardly surprising given his form last preparation.
The Nathan Doyle-trained colt won at Hawkesbury and Randwick, beating some smart types, and he has sizable spring aspirations.
Dropping to 56kg helps, so include the odds in multi bets.
Stake: 3 Units
We’re happy with the each-way odds for Quein Step, who looked as though she needed the fresh up run when finishing fourth.
The four-year-old mare by Sidestep showed good form last season when winning at Goulburn, and that form should hold up well here.
Dropping to 52kg could be enough to see her win.
Stake: 1.5 Units
So You Pence offers punters with better value compared to the favourite, especially over a shorter distance.
The Dale-trained mare finished sixth at Rosehill last time out, but that followed two good wins at Wagga and Goulburn.
She is good enough to figure in the finish at Canterbury.
