Canterbury horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (13:25) ANZ Bloodstock News BM78 (1550m)
#5 – Archanna – Bet @ Sportsbet
Archanna could be a level above this opposition and she should find this easier than recent assignments.
The Chris Waller-trained mare scored a terrific win on debut before rising in class and not getting the best of luck.
She finished fifth behind All Time Legend at Randwick last start, but she gets her chance to get back to the winners’ circle.
Race 2. (14:00) Vinery Stallions BM68 (1250m)
#1 – Yardstick – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Waterhouse/Bott team lines up Yardstick, which scored an impressive win on debut before facing tough fields in the city.
He is a son of Criterion that ran fifth at Rosehill last start behind Mo’unga, and we’re expecting that form to be red-hot for this midweek race.
Getting the inside draw is ideal and he should have no trouble finding the front. Expect a positive ride from Nash Rawiller.
Race 3. (14:35) Bowermans Furniture BM72 (1900m)
#4 – Miyake – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Waller-trained four-year-old looked solid when running third fresh up and he’s an improving type.
He finished close up behind Bentley Magic, and although facing a similar field on Wednesday, he should improve with the run.
He is a well-bred son of Deep Impact that owns two wins from eight starts, so with James McDonald in the saddle, expect a big effort.
Race 4. (15:10) Impending @ Darley BM78 (1100m)
#6 – Mr Mosaic – Bet @ Sportsbet
Mr Mosaic is a four-year-old runner that couldn’t have been more impressive winning fresh up at Warwick Farm.
The Ryan/Alexiou-trained son of Rubick scored by 3.3 lengths and it was an effortless display. He went forward and kicked strongly to score, so a repeat effort could be on the cards.
He now owns three wins from four starts, so another prime effort is on the cards.
Race 5. (15:45) Sky Racing Active BM72 (1100m)
#9 – Harto – Bet @ Sportsbet
Harto blew her chances of winning last time out when bombing the start at Randwick. However, she made good ground and she faces an easier field.
The four-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock drops in grade for this race, and if she picks the jump, she could be too good for them.
The Waller-trained runner was an impressive winner prior to a spell, and she deserves another chance on Wednesday.
Race 6. (16:20) Iron Jack BM78 (1250m)
#1 – Big Parade – Bet @ Sportsbet
We got the chocolates with Big Parade last start and it came easily at Canterbury. The four-year-old scored by 5.5 lengths in an effortless display, so he is worth sticking with.
He was able to carry 62kg to victory and he has been allocated the same weight this week. It won’t bother him and punters should get better than $1.90 this time around.
He is a three-time winner from seven starts and he could add another victory to his record.
Race 7. (16:55) Tab BM72 (1550m)
#2 – Kingsheir – Bet @ Sportsbet
Kingsheir is a two-time winner from four starts and he has yet to finish worse than third. It is a good record and he looks capable of rising through the grades.
The Hawkes-trained son of Kingman is coming off a second placing at Rosehill behind Discharged, which is a great form guide for this race.
It is another good ride for Nash Rawiller and he could get the job done.
