Caulfield racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:15) DCE Handicap (2400m)
#1 – Bankers Choice @ $8.50
It’s not easy to bet against Revelare, but we’re committed to sticking with Bankers Choice.
The former Kiwi has done well in Australia, including a win four back at The Valley, and he has taken on harder opposition than the favourite.
Barrier three is ideal and he could lead throughout to win.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (12:45) Avenel Equine Hospital Gold Distaff (1400m)
#1 – Regal Vow @ $3.60
Already a two-time winner this preparation, Regal Vow should be tough to beat at Caulfield on Saturday.
The five-year-old daughter of Swear owns six wins and six placings from 16 starts, so there’s nothing negative to find with her record.
Barrier two with Craig Williams riding adds to her appeal.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 3. (13:20) The Donovan Mystic Journey (1100m)
#5 – Samangu @ $3.80
Samangu owns four wins from six starts, and her only defeat this preparation came when running third behind Dazzling Lucy at Flemington.
The Graeme Begg-trained mare gets all favours off the inside draw, which is crucial for a front-running type at Caulfield.
We’re happy to include her in our horse racing tips.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 4. (13:55) Barastoc BM74 (1200m)
#2 – Tatsumaki @ $5.50
Tatsumaki is the most interesting runner at the meeting. He went three unbeaten runs in Europe, including a five-length win last time out.
However, that came in 2021, and he has since had five trials in Hong Kong and China. The most recent trial was a fourth in April last year, so it will be interesting to see how he runs.
Punters are taking a risk but we’d love to see him run well.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 5. (14:30) The IRT Platinum Guineas (1600m)
#1 – Zorro’s Flight @ $10.00
The Payne stable lines up Zorro’s Flight, who won back-to-back races earlier this preparation at Sale and Flemington.
He has since placed at Flemington behind Garnacho, which is a good form guide, and it could pay to overlook his run at Sandown.
Caulfield should suit, so he’s worth including at the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 6. (15:05) Peter Young Stakes (1800m)
#5 – Pride of Jenni @ $2.45
Pride of Jenni returns from retirement with nothing to prove, but she’s hard to ignore as a betting prospect.
The small field suits her running style and she has trialed well for her return, which was good to see, and it’s reflected in betting markets.
She has yet to win fresh up but she has the class advantage on this field.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 7. (15:40) Cylinder Vobis Gold Dash (1200m)
#11 – Chewing Gum @ $8.00
Chewing Gum will need luck from a wide draw but the three-year-old filly has stacks of ability.
She won on debut at Geelong by 2.8 lengths behind placing behind Treasurethe Moment at Sandown and Kuroyanagi at Caulfield.
She has faced tough fields and luck takes her close.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 8. (16:15) The TBV Vobis Platinum Showdown (1200m)
#13 – Killiana @ $3.10
The two-year-old filly by Brazen Beau couldn’t have been more impressive when winning on debut at Bendigo by 4.3 lengths.
She sat on the speed and never gave the opposition a chance, and we’re not surprised to see connections look for a race for more money.
Mark Zahra rides and that adds to our confidence.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 9. (16:55) Yulong Vobis Gold Sprint (1200m)
#3 – Nicolini Vino @ $6.00
Nicolini Vino is an experienced type that does a lot of his best racing fresh up with six starts for two wins and three placings.
The seven-year-old son of Nicconi handles all conditions and he’s a past winner at Caulfield, so he’s good enough to handle this field.
We’re taking the each-way value from bookmakers.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 10. (17:35) Southport Tycoon BM80 (1600m)
#11 – Dane on Tour @ $21.00
Dane on Tour could represent value, and although her best days are behind her, she won her only attempt at Caulfield.
She was good enough to place at Flemington earlier this prep behind Zambezi Khan, and a similar effort could be good enough.
54kg is ideal and she’s worth backing at the price.
Stake: 1 Unit
