Caulfield horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:25) Take it to the Neds Level Handicap (1200m)
#3 – D’arbanville – Bet Now
The form out of D’arbanville’s win at Sandown has been strong and she could double down on that victory.
She scored by two lengths in a dominant display and although that was midweek level, she stretched out nicely.
Having Craig Williams in the saddle helps and punters could get value odds.
Race 2. (13:00) Neds Same Race Multi BM90 (1100m)
#1 – Music Bay – Bet Now
Music Bay has the quality to win a race like this and she only needs to bring something close to her best.
The Phillip Stokes-trained four-year-old has finished in the money in nine of her 15 starts, which is a solid record.
Drawing barrier nine could make it tough but she shouldn’t be too far away from the mark.
Race 3. (13:35) Neds Extra Head Handicap (1400m)
#5 – Zousonic – Bet Now
The three-year-old filly was flying home at Bendigo last start and she has hit form at the right time.
Trained by the Ellerton/Zahra team, the daughter of Zoustar has figured in the money in seven of her eight starts.
Her first win came two starts back at Sandown and she almost backed it up with another win.
Each-way odds should be offered by bookmakers.
Race 4. (14:10) Neds Toolbox BM78 (1100m)
#10 – Leiter – Bet Now
Leiter hasn’t done much wrong to date and he went close against a tough field at Caulfield last start.
The four-year-old scored a win at Moonee Valley prior to that, which is good enough form for this race.
Six of his seven runs have resulted in a win or placing, so his consistency could be rewarded once again.
Race 5. (14:50) Neds Galilee Series Final (2400m)
#3 – Coin Collector @ $4.60 – Bet Now
Coin Collector is a gutsy type that finished second behind Skiddaw last start and that form looks good.
The Danny O’Brien-trained gelding scored a maiden win at Pakenham in February and he has coped with the rise in grade nicely.
He’s in the first two in betting and should run accordingly.
Race 6. (15:35) Neds Bet Back Handicap (1200m)
#7 – William Thomas – Bet Now
William Thomas has a good turn-of-foot on his day, so we’re prepared to allow him another chance.
The five-year-old is a former Kiwi that finished last at Mornington last start, but he’s a six-time winner from only 18 starts.
Punters should get value odds and he only needs a strong pace up front to go well.
Race 7. (16:15) Le Pine Funerals Easter Cup (2000m)
#9 – Salsamor @ $6.50 – Bet Now
The five-year-old is flying this campaign with four consecutive wins. The son of Tavistock scored all four wins at four different tracks, including Caulfield last start.
He meets a harder field this time around but with only 56.5kg on his back and jumping from barrier four, we fancy his chances.
Race 8. (16:50) Elvis Thurgood 40th Anniversary Cup (1400m)
#5 – Wild Planet @ $3.30 – Bet Now
Wild Planet is a classy animal that showed what he can do last time out at Flemington.
The money was on last start when he paid $2 to win, so the $3.30 on offer for this run is good value.
Drawing barrier two should allow him to find a good spot in running and Dwayne Dunn takes the ride.
Race 9. (17:25) Neds Price Boost Handicap (1600m)
#3 – Spanish Reef @ $5.50 – Bet Now
Spanish Reef is long overdue a winning turn and she’s good enough to find a length to win this race.
The Ken Keys-trained mare owns seven wins throughout her career and $5.50 is a fair price from bookmakers.
It’s a big field and that should play into her hands.
