The Group 1 action is at Randwick but Caulfield has a nice supporting card this Saturday.
We have free tips, form and odds for all nine races on the Melbourne card and it promises to be a great day on the punt.
Caulfield free tips & form
Race 1. (12:20) ERN Jensen Funerals Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Super Seth @ $1.70 – Bet Now
Anthony Freedman lines up the two-year-old colt which was a stunning winner on debut at Ballarat.
The colt by Dundeel was a six-length winner as the $1.70 favourite and punters are getting the same odds again here, which doesn’t look too bad.
Drawn and weighted well and he could get punters off to a winning start at Caulfield.
Race 2. (12:55) No Fuss Events BM78 (1440m)
#2 – Renewal @ $3.80 – Bet Now
Unsure why he’s not racing at Randwick this Saturday but his Sydney form should stack up nicely in Melbourne.
The four-year-old gelding was a brilliant winner at Randwick two back and he wasn’t too far behind a nice type at Bendigo last start.
There’s not much covering this field but he should have his say late in the piece.
Race 3. (13:30) Next Payments Handicap (1440m)
#9 – See Me Exceed @ $4.20 – Bet Now
See Me Exceed is coming off a good victory at Sandown last start where she scored by 1.8 lengths and that bodes well for this.
She has always promised to rise to the next level and with only a light weight on her back here, she should get every chance to repeat that performance from earlier this month.
$4.20 is a fair price from bookmakers.
Race 4. (14:05) Grunt Standing @ Yulong Handicap (2425m)
#3 – Steel Prince @ $1.90 – Bet Now
Consistent gelding which hasn’t finished worse than second at his last six starts. That includes four wins and he’s going along nicely this season.
The five-year-old is coming off two narrow victories where he scored by a nose and he should enjoy running over the longer distance of 2425m.
Not entirely happy with the odds-on quote from bookmakers but he will give punters a good sight.
Race 5. (14:45) Thoroughbred Club Galilee Final (2425m)
#1 – Secret Blaze @ $2.60 – Bet Now
Scored an overdue win last start at Bendigo and he could kick on with it now. The Tony McEvoy-trained three-year-old has two wins from 15 starts but has faced tough fields throughout his career.
He took advantage of an easier field last start and he shouldn’t find most of these much harder of a challenge.
Inside draw and a good weight helps.
Race 6. (15:30) L.U Simon Builders Handicap (1440m)
#12 – Tarwin @ $4.40 – Bet Now
Mick Kent lines up the promising son of Americain, which scored a good win on debut at Sale before running second last start.
Despite being defeated, he showed good fight in running a neck behind the winner and he drops dramatically in weight from 59kg to 52kg for this.
That could make all the difference.
Race 7. (16:10) Honan Insurance Group Handicap (1000m)
#15 – Leiter @ $3.60 – Bet Now
Leiter has been heavily backed after opening at $4.20 and we’re not surprised given his debut win last year.
The three-year-old won by 4.8 lengths at Bendigo as a $5.50 chance and he was immediately sent to the spelling paddock. That’s often a good sign and the nicely-bred type will be tough to beat here.
Follow any more betting moves for the runner.
Race 8. (16:50) Yulong Bel Esprit (1100m)
#3 – Eduardo @ $2 – Bet Now
The Group 1-performed runner looks a great chance to win at this level and although he was average in the Newmarket last start, this suits much better.
His run prior was a third in the Oakleigh Plate behind Booker and that form stacks up beautifully for this.
He loves Caulfield with three starts for a win and two placings, therefore the $2 on offer is a fair price from bookmakers.
Race 9. (17:25) Manhari Metals Handicap (1600m)
#7 – Plein Ciel @ $3.80 – Bet Now
A touch disappointing in two starts back from a spell but he often needs time to warm up and we’re prepared to give him another chance.
He has shown good ability over his career, which includes six wins from 14 starts and we’re confident he’ll get back to his winning form in quick time.
