We have expert betting tips for the card this Saturday at Caulfield that features nine quality betting races.
Racing returns to Caulfield after the meeting was run on a heavy track last week. Punters are getting good betting fields and we have our best value throughout the day.
Caulfield horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:15) Neds Same Race Multi BM78 (1400m)
#4 – Simply Optimistic – Bet Now
The Kiwi gelding battled on nicely for fourth fresh up and it was a good pointer towards this run.
He owns four wins from 11 starts and he’s a runner that handles all conditions, which is going to help this Saturday.
Michael Walker retains the ride and that’s only going to help his chances.
Race 2. (12:50) Blue Gem Farm Distaff Handicap (1400m)
#6 – Clarice Cliffs – Bet Now
It’s only a matter of time before Clarice Cliffs gets back to winning form. She hasn’t won at her last seven starts but not much has gone right for her.
Her effort to run second at Bendigo last start was a nice effort behind Snogging and this race is there for the taking.
The money should be on and we’re confident that she can return to form.
Race 3. (13:25) Spendthrift Australia Sprint (1200m)
#2 – Pippie – Bet Now
Pippie is the class horse and with five wins from 10 starts, her record shows that. The four-year-old beat a quality field two back before running fourth at a high-level last start.
Drawing barrier 11 won’t be an issue as she gets out well from the barriers and typically leads throughout.
It’s a competitive field but she loves the surface and should run accordingly.
Race 4. (14:00) Surewise Vobis Gold Heath (2000m)
#2 – Sopressa – Bet Now
The five-year-old mare needed both runs back from a spell and she looks set for a big run here.
Trained by the Maher/Eustace team, the daughter of So You Think hit the line well enough when fifth at Caulfield two weeks ago.
It’s a good form guide for this race and punters will get each-way odds.
Race 5. (14:40) IRT Vobis Gold Mile (1600m)
#10 – Bentoite – Bet Now
Clinton McDonald lines up the mare that has been making steady headway throughout this preparation.
The daughter of Americain has been steadily rising up in distance and she looks set for a top effort. Her five career wins have all been quality outings and she can handle this field.
Having Damien Oliver in the saddle helps and she should give them something to think about.
Race 6. (15:20) The Showdown (1200m)
#1 – Ideas Man – Bet Now
We’re sticking with Ideas Man despite his form this preparation being average. The Maher/Eustace-trained colt was too good on debut to leave out of calculations.
Not much has gone right for him since but he draws a good barrier and he could beat this talented field.
Punters should take the each-way odds and keep the faith.
Race 7. (16:00) Neds Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m)
#9 – Lyre – Bet Now
Lyre hasn’t won since winning the 2019 Blue Diamond, but her class should take her close in this race.
The Cummings-trained daughter of Lonhro has gone close of late, including a second placing at Randwick and a last-start fourth.
It’s solid form for this race and an overdue win could be on the cards.
Race 8. (16:40) Avenel Equine Vobis Dash (1100m)
#4 – Stand to Attention – Bet Now
Stand to Attention is shooting for consecutive wins after saluting at Kilmore last time out. The three-year-old was too speedy for them and that confidence will help.
Luck will be needed from the wide draw but Dwayne Dunn rides Caulfield well and he could find a nice spot in running.
Race 9. (17:15) Vobis Sires’ Guineas (1600m)
#3 – Ocular – Bet Now
It was a huge run from Ocular last start when getting well-back during the run and storming home for second.
The Shea Eden-trained gelding couldn’t have performed any better in defeat and we’re expecting punters to pick up on that.
He’s a son of Written Tycoon that should be able to get into a good position and launch late.
