Caulfield free tips & form
Race 1. (12:25) Thomas North Handicap (1100m)
#10 – Lil’ Angel @ $7.50 – Bet Now
Trainer Tony McEvoy always gets his juveniles to run early and this filly ran a nice trial to prepare for this.
The daughter of Wandjina ran third at Cranbourne behind Deserved, which scored a quality debut win at Sandown on Wednesday.
That form could stack up nicely and she looks a good each-way chance.
Race 2. (13:00) Selangor Turf Club BM78 (1600m)
#2 – Danon Roman @ $4.80 – Bet Now
The former Japanese runner has largely disappointed since arriving in Australia but he should enjoy facing this level of opposition.
Trained by Anthony Freedman, the son of Deep Impact has run third behind Furrion and second behind Lucky For All.
He wasn’t able to beat race rival Kazio last start but he gets a slight weight advantage and that could make the difference.
Race 3. (13:35) Polytrack BM84 (1600m)
#1 – Pure Scot @ $6.50 – Bet Now
Nice effort at Flemington last month when running third behind Spanish Reef and that’s form which should stack up at this level.
The Lindsay Park-trained four-year-old has been around the mark throughout her career and scored a win two back at Flemington by 1.3 lengths.
That’s good enough form to be considered in this.
Race 4. (14:15) Tile Importer Handicap (1600m)
#1 – Mr Quickie @ $2.05 – Bet Now
Mr Quickie just continues to win and we’re confident he has another win in store, which would make it seven in a row.
Trainer Phillip Stokes is having a great run with this Shamus Award gelding, which has won seven from nine starts and he looks a type that could work through the grades nicely.
He’s probably not group level yet but this is suitable and he could dominate them again.
Race 5. (14:55) Walk For Phil Handicap (1100m)
#6 – Thine Is The Power @ $6.50 – Bet Now
Struggling to win and hasn’t done so at her last six starts, but she put the writing on the wall with a last start placing.
The daughter of Street Boss looked like she was going to end that winless streak but she was nosed out of it by Causeway Girl at Flemington. She won’t lose any admirers with that defeat and given her consistent form, she should be right around the mark again.
Drawing barrier two should ensure a nice passage and Jamie Kah is riding well.
Race 6. (15:35) Hyderarad R.C Handicap (1100m)
#1 – Fuhryk @ $16 – Bet Now
Punters will have to take Fuhryk on the hope that she finds her best form after a long run of outs.
The Lindsay Park-trained runner hasn’t been running well against much better opposition than what she faces here. If she’s anything close to what she used to be, and that was pretty good, she would put five lengths on this field.
She’s not at her best but is worth a bet in this situation.
Race 7. (16:15) Ladbrokes Handicap (1200m)
#10 – Albumin @ $8.50 – Bet Now
Yet to win in four starts this campaign but he ran nicely for second at Kembla Grange last start and really picked up late.
The four-year-old is a five-time winner which doesn’t help itself in the run by getting back, but if he gets the right run in transit, he can finish over the top of them.
54kg helps and punters should be getting each-way odds on the day.
Race 8. (16:55) Ladbrokes Anniversary Vase (1400m)
#6 – Kemono @ $16 – Bet Now
We’re going with another Japanese runner here in Kemono, which has yet to win in Australia but it should be only a matter of time.
The four-year-old has had six runs down under for two placings, which came behind Dothraki and Trekking. That’s quality form and he only needs a slight change of fortunes to be winning this.
Race 9. (17:30) Le Pine Funerals Handicap (2000m)
#7 – Our Libretto @ $5.50 – Bet Now
We’re sticking with the former New Zealand mare which burst onto the scene in Australia with four consecutive wins.
The daughter of O’Reilly ran 6.9 lengths behind Consensus in the Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley last start but she’s better with a longer straight.
She will get time to warm up at Caulfield and she could return to form.
