We have expert betting tips for the card this Saturday at Caulfield that features nine quality betting races.
Some of Victoria’s best thoroughbreds return for their autumn carnivals and it’s great to see.
We look at the best betting opportunities for punters across the card this Saturday.
Caulfield horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:35) Ive Print BM84 (1600m)
#4 – Thousand Wishes @ $2.10 – Bet Now
Thousand Wishes produced back-to-back wins at Sandown and Flemington before running a nose behind the winner last start.
The four-year-old mare owns three wins and four placings from 11 starts, so there’s plenty to like about her record.
Facing a small field off the inside draw will help and she looks a good bet in the opening race.
Race 2. (13:10) John Moule Handicap (1600m)
#3 – Mr Cancun @ $3.90 – Bet Now
Les Smith lines up the three-year-old gelding that has scored consecutive wins leading into this race.
The smart son of Atlante has yet to finish worse than second in four starts, which is a nice way to start its career.
Most of the early money has come for Mr Cancun and punters are still getting value odds.
Race 3. (13:45) All Star Mile @ MRC Handicap (2407m)
#4 – High Bridge @ $2.20 – Bet Now
High Bridge returned to winning form last start at Flemington when scoring by two lengths. He could continue with that form against a similar field.
The aging nine-year-old turned back the clock to win and he only rises up in weight a touch. He’s used to carrying weight, so lumping around 56kg isn’t going to worry him.
Punters will have to take short odds but he looks the best runner in this field.
Race 4. (14:20) Robert Hunter BM78 (1100m)
#5 – Diamond Effort @ $4 – Bet Now
Diamond Effort has yet to win from three fresh up starts, but she could buck the trend here.
The Clinton McDonald-trained mare gets an inside draw here and that’s a big asset over the sprint distance.
She owns form around some stellar Saturday types and she’s worth a play at the each-way odds.
Race 5. (14:55) Lamaro’s Hotel Chairman’s Stakes (1000m)
#1 – Ideas Man @ $4.20 – Bet Now
There was a big betting push for Ideas Man on debut and it paid off for punters.
The Maher/Eustace-trained colt scored by a narrow margin at Moonee Valley but the margin didn’t do the win justice.
He showed a great turn-of-foot in the straight to score and he should find life easier at Caulfield, which is a more open track.
Race 6. (15:30) Mal Seccull BM84 (1800m)
#2 – Aktau @ $2.60 – Bet Now
Mike Moroney’s stable is firing this season and Aktau could give them another win.
The four-year-old has won his last two starts, with the first coming overseas at Goodwood. He then won fresh up at Flemington and he’s only going to get better over more ground.
It’s never easy to win second-up after a long spell, but European form typically stacks up much better than local form over the staying distances.
Race 7. (16:10) Neds Manfred Stakes (1200m)
#2 – Dalasan @ $2.80 – Bet Now
Dalasan should have the edge over this field, especially over the sprinting distance.
We respect the chances of Guineas winner Super Seth, but he’s going to struggle over the 1200m in a fresh state.
Therefore, Dalasan should be the horse to beat. He’s coming off a top campaign that included three wins and a placing.
He’s all class and should give punters a good sight.
Race 8. (16:50) Neds W.J. Adams Stakes (1000m)
#1 – Bons Away @ $9 – Bet Now
This is a tough field to line up but Bons Away is a slick sprinter on his day.
The six-year-old is a six-time winner from 29 starts and although he didn’t have all luck last preparation, that could turn.
He’s a two-time winner at Caulfield and having that experience should see him go close.
Punters are getting great odds at the $9 price.
Race 9. (17:30) Catanach’s Jewellers BM84 (1400m)
#6 – Fabric @ $2.80 – Bet Now
Fabric needed the run last start but was hitting the line nicely for fourth behind Reflectivity.
The Danny O’Brien-trained mare has a good career record and she gets the services of Craig Williams in the saddle.
That should see her land close to the pace and kick strongly.
