Caulfield horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:40) Neds Mornington Cup Prelude (2000m)
#4 – Defibrillate @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Defibrillate is a former Kiwi runner that has made it look easy in Australia. The Patrick Payne-trained gelding owns eight wins from 12 starts, including back-to-back wins at Flemington and Caulfield.
The son of Shocking scored a dead-heat win with Hang Man last start, and he was unlucky not to get the chocolates by himself.
$2.60 is a fair price for an in-form runner.
Race 2. (13:15) Neds Zeditave Stakes (1200m)
#5 – It’sourtime @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet
It’sourtime scored consecutive wins to kick off his career before finishing third at Caulfield last time out.
The Danny O’Brien-trained gelding was only a length behind the winner and not everything during the race was run to suit.
The inside draw is ideal and we’re expecting a bounce back performance.
Race 3. (13:50) Neds Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m)
#3 – Malicorne @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Malicorne has been beaten at her last two starts, but she didn’t lose any admirers from those efforts.
The three-year-old filly finished second behind Zesty Belle at Flemington before running second behind La Mexicana in a tough sprint race at Caulfield.
She has massive upside and punters should be confident of her chances at each-way odds.
Race 4. (14:25) Premier Signs Mannerism Stakes (1400m)
#1 – Perfect Jewel @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Perfect Jewel is a six-year-old mare that is talented at best and the betting support has come for Saturday’s race.
The Williams-trained runner is an eight-time winner that has won fresh up in the past, so that bodes well for this contest.
She has faced much harder fields than this in the past, so the drop in class should see her go close.
Race 5. (15:00) Zircodata Autumn Classic (1800m)
#3 – Young Werther @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The O’Brien-trained gelding is a stayer in the making and he was always going to need the run over a shorter distance last start.
He finished third in the Derby last preparation and 1800m looks ideal for the son of Tavistock, which demands attention here.
Damien Oliver rides and $3.70 is a fair price.
Race 9. (17:35) Carlton Draught Peter Young Stakes (1800m)
#3 – Homesman @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Homesman is a talented type that owns three wins from seven fresh up starts. He is a two-time winner at Caulfield and he is suited by the weight-for-age scale.
His win in the Crystal Mile last preparation was top-quality and he faced some tough rivals in subsequent runs at Flemington and Sandown.
If he’s anywhere near his best, Homesman should be beating this field. The $4.40 is a fair price from bookmakers and it’s worth taking.
