Caulfield horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (15:40) Ladbrokes Maiden Plate (1400m)
#4 – Maqsood – Bet Now
Lindsay Park lines up the three-year-old gelding that is getting better with every run this season.
The son of Tavistock finished fifth on debut and improved quickly to run third two starts back. He then ran second last start at Wangaratta and he came from a long way back in the run.
He was 12th on the turn and run down the field to finish only 2.8 lengths behind the winner. It was the run of a horse that will win soon.
Race 2. (16:15) Ladbrokes Cash In BM64 (1400m)
#1 – Hendrika – Bet Now
Hendrika looked good when winning on debut at Pakenham as a long-shot chance. The Matthew Cumani-trained runner scored by 1.3 lengths as a $30 chance.
She then went to Geelong and ran third behind a good type and she was only a neck away from remaining unbeaten.
This is a tough field but she’s capable of handling it.
Race 3. (16:50) Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap (1100m)
#7 – Oregon Pinot – Bet Now
Oregon Pinot is on debut for Anthony Freedman and we’re expecting her to be well-backed come race day.
She’s a two-year-old filly by Lonhro and there are good breeding lines throughout her page, including dam Saddaqa.
Mark Zahra takes the ride and she should be fighting out the finish.
Race 4. (17:25) Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM70 (2000m)
#5 – Prism – Bet Now
Prism has been in solid form this campaign, which includes a win and a placing. The four-year-old mare scored that win at Moe and was last seen running a big race on this track.
She settled just off the pace and came into the race nicely. A similar run would take her close here and she’s going to get every chance from the draw.
Punters should be getting each-way odds and Lewis German takes some weight off her back.
Race 5. (18:00) Ladbrokes Info Hub BM78 (1000m)
#2 – Vainstream – Bet Now
Vainstream isn’t the most consistent type running around but he is a five-time winner to his credit.
The five-year-old scored a win at Pakenham three starts back before taking on some stiff opposition in town.
He ran fifth behind Bold Star at Flemington and then second behind Tony Nicconi on this track. The form out of those races is going to stack up nicely for midweek level.
Punters could get value odds and they’re worth taking.
Race 6. (18:30) Ladbrokes Live Streaming BM70 (1100m)
#10 – Atheleisia – Bet Now
The Charlotte Littlefield-trained runner has won two of her four starts and she could have a nice future.
She scored her debut win at Mornington by a length before rising in class and not coping with the extra pressure.
Dropping back in class at Mornington helped last start when she won by just under a length. Going back up to rating 70 isn’t easy but that recent win will give her confidence.
Drawing barrier three is ideal so include her in selections.
Race 7. (19:00) Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM70 (1200m)
#11 – Rainbow Thief – Bet Now
Rainbow Thief looked good winning consecutive races last season and his run for fourth fresh up had plenty of merit.
The Mike Moroney-trained four-year-old made up big ground behind Ginger Jones on this track and he’s only going to take benefit from that run.
Rising through the grades shouldn’t be a problem for Rainbow Thief and we’re confident he’s going to produce the goods here.
Race 8. (19:30) Ladbrokes Cash Out BM70 (1400m)
#13 – Toff Love – Bet Now
Symon Wilde lines up the four-year-old gelding that is coming off a win at Warrnambool.
The son of Toorak Toff has three wins and four placings from 12 starts and he should be able to win again this preparation.
Drawing barrier five will see him land on the speed and be tough to beat from there.
