Caulfield horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:55) Cathie Ireland BM70 (1100m)
#6 – Golden Gorge @ $3.30 – Bet Now
It was an impressive win on debut from Golden Gorge and he looks a type that could kick on with it.
The Robert Hickmott-trained three-year-old won by 2.3 lengths over a quality field at Bendigo and he will get a good run from barrier three.
Punters are getting nice odds and we’re expecting them to shorten.
Race 2. (13:30) Robert Newman BM84 (1100m)
#2 – Clarice Cliffs @ $2.30 – Bet Now
Clarice Cliffs is a classy mare that has won three of her six career starts.
The speedy daughter of Canford Cliffs finished fifth when last seen in March. That came behind Swift Sis and she also owns form around the likes of Oregon’s Day and Declarationofheart.
She looked good running second in a recent trial at Pakenham and that will top her off nicely for this.
Race 3. (14:05) Glenn Watkins BM84 (1100m)
#4 – Toni Nicconi @ $5 – Bet Now
Once a potential top liner, Toni Nicconi has dropped steadily in grade but that makes him a winning threat.
The Lindsay Park-trained gelding is a two-time winner that has finished behind the likes of Pippie, Written By and Long Leaf throughout his career.
Gets every chance off the inside draw and we’re expecting him to ride the speed at Caulfield and kick strongly.
Race 4. (14:40) Melissa Broadley BM70 (1200m)
#3 – Bam’s On Fire @ $2.80 – Bet Now
Punters have been burned by Bam’s On Fire this season but they get another chance to cash in.
The four-year-old mare is coming off back-to-back third placings but her form last season was what we need to look at.
She has finished in the money in 10 of her 12 starts and that’s likely to be improved here.
$2.80 is a fair price for punters.
Race 5. (15:20) Margaret Hogan BM70 (1400m)
#2 – Shezawitness @ $3.60 – Bet Now
Shezawitness is a three-year-old filly that scored a narrow win at Sandown fresh up before running close at The Valley last start.
She’s a filly by Star Witness that will need to carry a big weight as a filly. However, she will get every chance from barrier two and is drawn to get a nice run throughout.
Punters are getting good odds given the risk she possesses.
Race 6. (16:00) Tristan Parisienne BM64 (1400m)
#14 – Snowfire @ $14 – Bet Now
The Hawkes-trained gelding scored a gutsy win at Yarra Valley and he could cope with the rise in grade.
He comes from a stable which is training plenty of winners lately and with some luck from barrier 12, he could be fighting out the finish.
James Winks retains the ride and that will help.
Race 7. (16:40) Michele De Silva BM78 (1400m)
#11 – Conqueror @ $3.90 – Bet Now
Conqueror is a $1 million colt that looks to have ability but needs to start producing more wins.
The well-bred son of Fastnet Rock scored a win at Pakenham to break maiden grades before running behind the likes of The Holy One and Group 1 winner Super Seth.
His last two starts came behind Dalasan and Pretty Braven, so keep him safe here.
Race 8. (17:20) Troy Janssens BM84 (1600m)
#10 – Something Silver @ $9 – Bet Now
That was an impressive run from Something Silver last start when running second behind Neighbourhood.
It’s form that will stack up for the rest of this season and her win at Moonee Valley in November was a good outing.
Punters are getting much better odds than expected, so take them while they last.
Race 9. (17:55) Jason Caffyn BM70 (2000m)
#11 – Pina @ $6.50 – Bet Now
Pina has yet to run a bad race this season and that form should stack up nicely for this.
The Michael Kent-trained four-year-old has finished in the money in five of seven starts and she could add to that here.
Another runner where punters are getting good odds.
