Caulfield free tips & form
Race 1. (11:50) Grunt Standing @ Yulong Quality (2406m)
#5 – Felaar – Bet Now
Desperately unlucky at Flemington last Saturday when getting checked at a vital stage of the race.
Looked good when winning narrowly across the Tasman at Hastings but the five-year-old will need a find a length to beat this field.
Gets the inside draw, a light weight and connections are confident.
Race 2. (12:30) Ladbrokes Back Yourself BM78 (1100m)
#12 – McGarrett – Bet Now
Didn’t have all favours in the run last time out but he’s going to get a nice run from barrier three.
The four-year-old has shown glimpses of quality form this season, including a win at Moonee Valley, followed by a third placing.
Back up in grade but he can handle it.
Race 3. (13:05) Rod Fenwick Handicap (1600m)
#1 – Zoutori – Bet Now
Strong winner when bursting through runners last time out. That was his second consecutive win this preparation and he looks a type that could go on with it.
He’s a well-bred three-year-old by Zoustar that beat a nice field at Flemington last start and this is no harder.
Only the big weight is a worry but Craig Williams rides.
Race 4. (13:40) Ian Miller Handicap (1600m)
#4 – Liapari – Bet Now
We were confident he could return to form at Caulfield last start and he did just that. His finish for second was a quality effort on the back of some poor form.
He has shown throughout his career that he has ability and with almost $500,000 in the bank, he’s got the class edge on this field.
Bookmakers should be offering nice odds.
Race 5. (14:20) Darren Gauci Handicap (1100m)
#9 – Josephine Sea – Bet Now
Gets into this race nicely on the weights with 54kg on her back. The four-year-old was a winner fresh up this campaign at Seymour and she has been solid since.
Her recent form includes consecutive third placings and she was only 1.7 lengths behind the winner last time out. That form is good enough for this and she’s going to get all favours.
Race 6. (15:00) Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1200m)
#9 – Moldova – Bet Now
There are some nice types in this field by Moldova has the form on the board and that should stack up nicely.
The Danny O’Brien-trained filly by Snitzel was a 2.8-length winner on debut at Bendigo before scoring by just under a length at Flemington.
She gets a good run from the draw and Brett Prebble takes the ride.
Race 7. (15:40) Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1100m)
#1 – Propelle – Bet Now
Drawing barrier 15 isn’t going to help over this distance but that was a strong effort to score last time out.
The three-year-old filly sprouted wings late to score by 2.8 lengths on this track and she’ll likely have to do the same here.
She will get back and flash home late. We’re hoping class will get her over the line.
Race 8. (16:20) Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap (1200m)
#7 – Order of Command – Bet Now
Looked the goods when winning his first two starts this time in. Both of those came down the straight at Flemington and although he’s a Flemington specialist, running around a turn could help.
He’s going to use the inside barrier draw perfectly and with only 54kg on his back, he should be very tough to beat.
Punters could get each way odds in this.
Race 9. (16:52) JRA BM84 (1800m)
#9 – Remember The Name – Bet Now
Has lost her winning touch it seems but she has ability and enjoys racing at Caulfield.
The four-year-old has had five starts on this track for four placings and that’s good enough form to warrant attention here.
It’s not the best field ever assembled and she could take advantage.
