Caulfield horse racing tips

Race 1. (11:45) Happy 50th Leanne Napper Handicap (1200m)

#4 – Set the Sails @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The two-year-old colt comes off a second placing at Geelong and he was a touch unlucky not to get the win.

He is a son of More than Ready that has been met with support in the betting and Damien Oliver rides from barrier four. That bodes well and we’re not surprised by the betting move.

It could pay to watch late moves with Set the Sails.

Race 2. (12:20) Neds Filter Form BM78 (1100m)

#13 – Sugartown @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sugartown comes off two strong wins at Bendigo and there is nothing wrong with that form going forward.

The Danny O’Brien-trained three-year-old kicked clear for a 2.3-length win last start and getting into this with only 54.5kg is ideal.

She will be tough to beat and punters get value odds.

Race 3. (12:55) Neds Same Race Multi BM78 (1200m)

#13 – Wilmot Pass @ $19 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Wilmot Pass isn’t showing the same form of old, but he’s still talented and good enough to win at big odds.

The four-year-old gelding is a three-time winner and although yet to win at Caulfield, this race could set up nicely for him.

He draws the rail and the odds are worth taking.

Race 4. (13:30) Michael Andrew BM84 (1200m)

#10 – Kilkarni Royale @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Kevin Corstens-trained mare comes off a second placing at Warrnambool and that form stacks up nicely.

She is a three-time winner from 12 starts and two of those wins have come over this distance, so she knows how to sprint.

Carrying 55kg is ideal and we’re confident enough to take the each-way odds.

Race 5. (14:10) Enable Pro Services BM84 (1400m)

#3 – Defiant Dancer @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Defiant Dancer is rarely too far away and he owns five wins and 10 placings from 20 starts.

The consistent son of Foxwedge comes off a third placing at Caulfield behind Open Minded and we’re expecting that form to stack up nicely.

2kg comes off his back and he is another value runner at Caulfield.

Race 6. (14:50) Cyclotek Handicap (2000m)

#4 – Yonkers @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Yonkers has done plenty of miles recently but the Chris Waller-trained gelding loves Caulfield. He owns two wins from three starts and he has the class edge on this field.

The five-year-old was asked to do too much at Wagga last start and he won by 4.8 lengths two back on this track.

That form should see him winning again.

Race 7. (15:30) Ontoit BM84 (1600m)

#6 – Osaka @ $8 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Osaka is a Kiwi four-year-old that comes off an impressive win at Te Rapa and that form could stack up in Australia.

The four-year-old gelding is a five-time winner from 11 starts and punters get terrific odds of $8 to enjoy.

He could be a runner worth following.

Race 8. (16:10) Neds Toolbox Handicap (1600m)

#5 – Riot and Rose @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Drawing wide doesn’t help but the three-year-old gelding has shown plenty of ability to date.

The three-year-old son of Pins scored by two lengths on debut before winning by three lengths at Pakenham last time out.

Damien Oliver rides and although drawn wide, we’re happy with the odds.

Race 9. (16:40) Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap (1100m)

#9 – Muntaseera @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Muntassera is a quality three-year-old filly that loves racing at Caulfield and she loves the distance.

The daughter of I Am Invincible didn’t fire last time out at Morphettville, but that was a tough race and we’re prepared to give her another chance.

Dropping to 51kg is ideal and that’s a luxury weight.
