Caulfield horse racing tips

Race 1. (11:55) Lamaro’s South Melbourne Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Generation @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Generation was impressive on debut at Morphettville where scoring by 2.3 lengths and he could go back-to-back.

The two-year-old son of Snitzel is bred to handle the rise in class and with Jamie Kah in the saddle, he should be tough to beat.

We’re expecting a sizable betting push on race day.

Race 2. (12:30) Emerald Hill Mission BM84 (2000m)

#10 – Excelman @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Richard Laming-trained gelding is getting close to a win after posting three placings from four starts this preparation.

He finished second at Caulfield behind Blue Ocean and we’re expecting that form to stack up nicely in this grade.

Carrying 54kg is ideal and he should go close.

Race 3. (13:05) Cameron Plant Memorial BM84 (1600m)

#7 – Ruby Skye @ $8 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The seven-year-old mare is better for three runs back from a spell and she could turn her form around on Saturday.

She is a three-time winner at the distance and although yet to fire at Caulfield, her run for fourth at Flemington was a good sign last start.

Stick with her at the each-way odds.

Race 4. (13:40) Ian Miller BM78 (1200m)

#10 – Platini @ $8 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Platini looked good scoring back-to-back wins earlier this preparation and he’s capable of getting back to that form.

The four-year-old son of Charge Forward comes off a fourth at Caulfield and that was behind some smart types, so the form bodes well for this contest.

$8 is a value price and he’s worth backing.

Race 5. (14:15) JRA Handicap (1600m)

#3 – Holbien @ $1.85 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Holbein hasn’t been a friend for punters are four consecutive placings, but he looks well-placed to score the prize here.

The six-year-old gelding finished 1.3 lengths behind Vassilator at Flemington and he ran third at Caulfield prior to that.

Getting 3kg off his back is ideal and he should go close.

Race 6. (14:55) Thomas North Handicap (1100m)

#1 – Blazejowski @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Blazejowski is dangerous at his best and his best form comes fresh up. He owns three wins from five starts first-up, so punters should expect a solid outing.

He is a three-time winner at this distance and there was plenty to like about his recent trial win at Cranbourne.

$4.50 is a value price for a quality sprinter.

Race 7. (15:35) Rod Fenwick Handicap (2000m)

#2 – Redwood Shadow @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The three-year-old gelding comes off consecutive placings and his most recent was at Flemington behind Our Lone Star.

It was a good effort and despite getting too far back in the run, he flashed late and that’s a good sign for the rise in distance.

Punters get each-way odds worth taking.

Race 8. (16:15) Selangor Turf Club Handicap (1600m)

#3 – Agreeable @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Agreeable comes off a sixth at Morphettville, which followed a win at Caulfield. It was a tidy one-length effort and she is a filly that could go places.

The Freedman-trained three-year-old gets every chance off an inside draw and punters should be happy with the odds available.

Include her in win selections.

Race 9. (16:50) Darren Gauci Handicap (1200m)

#9 – Ayrton @ $1.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ayrton could be a special type after beating some smart types and looking mightily impressive in doing so.

The three-year-old gelding hasn’t been fully tested yet and he comes off a three-length trial win at Echuca.

The top grades await and he should be cleaning them up again.
