Caulfield horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:15) Magic Millions Debutante Stakes (1000m)

#2 – Anamoe @ $8.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Anamoe could make a winning debut for James Cummings and the addition of Damien Oliver in the saddle is ideal.

The son of Street Boss finished second in a recent jumpout and he was forced to cover extra ground throughout.

$8.50 is a value price in an open contest.

Race 2. (12:50) Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m)

#3 – Swats That @ $2.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Swats That is coming off a gritty win at The Valley where she scored easily by two lengths. The daughter of Shamus Award looks to have a nice future and she could rise to another level here.

She opened at $2.15, so she has drifted a touch in betting. However, we expect plenty of money to come her way on race day.

Race 3. (13:25) Big Screen Company Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m)

#6 – Windstorm @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Windstorm created a good impression when scoring at Caulfield last start and he could go back-to-back.

The Williams-trained runner is a professional winner of six from nine starts, and he defeated a quality field last time out.

It is no harder here and punters haven’t missed him in the early markets. The $2.30 should firm throughout the week.

Race 4. (14:00) Northwood Plume Stakes (1200m)

#7 – Lyre @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lyre is becoming an expensive type for punters but the Cummings-trained mare could get back to her best on Saturday.

The four-year-old is a big race winner that just needs some confidence back. Her effort for sixth last start was solid and carrying 55kg is ideal.

Look for an improved run from the talented type.

Race 5. (14:35) McCafe Schillaci Stakes (1100m)

#8 – Dirty Work @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Dirty Work has Sydney form and that should stack up nicely at Caulfield. The Hawkes-trained runner is a four-time winner and he has been running behind the likes of Gytrash and Classique Legend.

That is Everest form and if he’s saved up at one shot at them, it could be all over in the straight. Watch for a late burst from Dirty Work.

Punters are getting good odds with bookmakers and we are expecting those odds to firm throughout the week.

Race 10. (17:45) Herbert Power Stakes (2400m)

#3 – Orderofthegarter @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The imported stayer lived up to expectations last start when winning at Caulfield over a similar field.

He had a good run throughout and took advantage of that, which could be similar here after drawing barrier four.

Danny O’Brien knows how to train successful stayers and with Damien Oliver in the saddle, we’re not surprised at the betting support coming his way.
