Caulfield horse racing tips & form

Race 1. (13:25) Bianca North BM70 (1600m)

#7 – Jaffastock – Bet @ Sportsbet

Jaffastock scored a quality and gutsy win on debut at Ballarat and he could remain unbeaten here.

The son of Tavistock is facing a much harder field but he looks like a progressive type and having Hugh Bowman riding is ideal.

Punters should watch for any market moves on race day.

Race 2. (14:00) Neds Coongy Cup (2000m)

#2 – Al Galayel @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Al Galayel is in hot form after winning three consecutive races and the seven-year-old is worth backing again.

The son of Zoffany scored two wins at Moonee Valley and one at Caulfield. His latest was a 2.3-length win at The Valley, where he put away a good field.

He deserves to be favourite for this race and punters are getting value odds.

Race 3. (14:35) Beck Probuild BM78 (2000m)

#2 – Grand Promenade @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The five-year-old gelding is a quality type that has been waiting to rise in distance this season. He finished fourth at Flemington last start over the mile, so he looks the goods here.

He is a four-time winner that won at his only start at Caulfield, which is important around this tight-turning circuit.

$3.10 is a good price for punters and he could firm much shorter on race day.

Race 4. (15:10) Catanach’s Blue Sapphire (1200m)

#2 – Anders @ $1.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Anders is a speed machine that has rattled off four consecutive wins. The Maher/Eustace-trained colt defeated subsequent winner Peltzer last start, which is a great form guide.

Prior to that he defeated subsequent Group 1 winner Ole Kirk, so there are no better form guides for punters.

$1.40 is short, but off the inside draw, he is the testing material.

Race 5. (15:45) Hyland Race Colours BM84 (2407m)

#7 – Saracen Knight @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Saracen Knight is coming off a terrific win at Caulfield and he has every chance of going back-to-back.

The imported son of Camelot is a lightly-tried six-year-old that owns three wins and two placings. He showed a good turn-of-foot to score and he has been well-backed here.

Stick with him and he should give punters a good sight.

Race 6. (16:25) Neds Village Stakes (1200m)

#7 – Bravo Tango @ $8.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Bravo Tango is a professional six-time winner from 19 starts and he is a speedy type on his day.

The six-year-old is coming off a fourth at Caulfield and although beaten, he needed the run and he always improves second-up.

The $8.50 is a great price and he will get every chance off an inside draw.

Race 7. (17:05) Catanach’s Ladies’ Day Vase (1600m)

#8 – Sovereign Award @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Sovereign Award has hit top gear this season with three wins and a placing from five starts. She is coming off a win at Moonee Valley and drops in weight by 6kg here.

The Danny O’Brien-trained runner will enjoy carrying 55kg and she showed a fine turn-of-foot to score last time out.

$6.50 is a great value price for punters and although meeting a harder field, she has obvious winning claims.

Race 8. (17:45) Nick Johnstone Real Estate BM84 (1400m)

#9 – Legionnaire – Bet @ Sportsbet

Legionnaire hasn’t been a punters’ best friend this season but he hasn’t been far away in some tough races.

The four-year-old gelding faces an easier field here and although rising in weight, it’s not much of a difference.

Punters could get each-way odds on race day.
