We have expert betting tips for the card this Saturday at Caulfield that features 10 quality betting races.
There are three Group 1 races on the premier card at Caulfield, and we have our best value bets for every race.
Caulfield horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:15) Magic Millions Debutante Stakes (1000m)
#1 – Brereton @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Peter Moody-trained two-year-old cost $1 million, and he showed good speed when running at the Cranbourne trials.
He wasn’t asked for much in the run to the line, and the early betting markets for this race are a good sign.
$4.20 is still a value price and punters should lock it in before it shortens.
Race 2. (12:50) Big Screen Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m)
#1 – So Si Bon @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
So Si Bon ran well for fourth fresh up at Sandown behind Chaillot, which should be a good form guide for the spring carnival.
The Hayes-trained eight-year-old is a four-time winner at Caulfield, so it’s a track that will suit better than Sandown.
Only one of his eight wins have come at the distance and second-up, but it’s not an overly strong field, so take the each-way odds.
Race 3. (13:25) Neds Village Stakes (1200m)
#7 – Lombardo @ $1.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
We couldn’t have been more impressed with Lombardo last start, who scored by four lengths at Moonee Valley.
The smart win sets up the five-year-old gelding nicely for the spring, and we like his chances of winning three on the bounce this Saturday.
Carrying 54kg makes him awfully tough to beat, so the $1.70 is worth adding to multis.
Race 4. (14:00) Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m)
#8 – New York Baby @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
New York Baby is looking to remain unbeaten after three runs, following wins at Warrnambool and Flemington.
The Corstens-trained three-year-old scored a professional win at Flemington when leading the field and kicking clear for a 2.5-length victory.
If she shows good barrier speed once again, they will have a hard time catching her.
Race 5. (14:35) Lexus Schillaci Stakes (1100m)
#4 – September Run @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
September Run finished seventh at Moonee Valley last start, but the run was better than it looked.
The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old is classy at best, and although she hasn’t been in winning form, the former Group 1 winner could get back to her.
She has yet to race at Caulfield, which is interesting, but we’re putting her on top against this level of opposition.
Race 7. (15:50) Senet Northwood Plume Stakes (1200m)
#3 – La Mexicana @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Drawing the inside barrier is ideal for La Mexican, who loves to rail-up and kick clear around the turn.
The Freedman-trained daughter of I Am Invincible is a three-time winner at Caulfield, and with six wins from 12 starts overall, she has been good to punters.
$4.40 for a runner that doesn’t know how to run a bad race is excellent money, so we’re putting her clearly on top.
Race 10. (17:45) Neds Herbert Power Stakes (2400m)
#5 – Delphi @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Delphi was a touch unlucky behind Nonconformist last start and we think the imported runner will be tough to beat.
The five-year-old son of Galileo finished only a nose behind the winner, and with four wins from eight starts overall, it’s about time he won in Australia.
John Allen should get working on him approaching the home turn and he could grind down Floating Artist, who will likely be sitting close to the pace.
