Caulfield horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:30) PFD Food Services BM78 (1200m)

#4 – Hela @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Scott Brunton lines up the four-year-old mare who owns seven wins from eight starts, which can’t be overlooked.

She didn’t fire at Morphettville when running last behind Media Award, but her form in Tasmania is good enough for this level of racing.

Her recent trial was excellent and the claim helps.

Race 2. (13:05) Henley Homes for RPC Handicap (1100m)

#5 – Wisdom of Water @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

There is a nice race coing for Wisdom of Water and it could be this Saturday against the small field.

The former Queenslander ran fifth at Moonee Valley last start behind The Inferno, and we expect that form to stack up nicely.

He has good barrier speed, so expect him to ride the speed and be tough to run down.

Race 3. (13:40) Off the Track Prelude (1400m)

#1 – Heresy @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Money has come for the James Cummings-trained filly who owns a win and three placings from four career starts.

The three-year-old daughter of Street Boss ran close behind Bruckner and Artorious last start, and we expect that form to hold up.

Conditions are ideal and the $2.35 could firm on race day.

Race 4. (14:15) Neds Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m)

#1 – Alpine Edge @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Alpine Edge is a classy Queenslander who didn’t have all favours behind another smart type at Doomben.

The three-year-old was only a nose behind Startantes, which has subsequently won another race in Brisbane. It’s good form, and getting the inside barrier is ideal.

Craig Williams rides, so punters should be confident.

Race 5. (14:55) Pinchapoo Plate (1000m)

#3 – Ranveer @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ranveer ran second on debut at Flemington behind Profiteer before winning at Sandown on a heavy track.

He didn’t handle the wet surface, but was still too good. He has since been spelled and he should return in fine order on Saturday.

Barrier 10 won’t help, but this field is there for the taking, so include.

Race 6. (15:35) 4cyte for Living Legends BM90 (1400m)

#3 – Annavisto @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

We were pleased with the resuming run from Annavisto, who pushed subsequent winner Turaath to within a half-length.

It was a tremendous return to racing after four months off, and the daughter of Reliable Man will only get better this preparation.

Conditions are ideal and punters get a fair price.

Race 7. (16:15) MRC Foundation Cup (2000m)

#12 – Grand Promenade @ $9.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The six-year-old dropped in distance last start when running second, but he chased hard and carrying 55kg helps here.

He is a classy stayer who is eyeing the cups, but winning over 2000m isn’t beyond him against this level of opposition.

We are surprised with the odds, so we’ll take the each-way value available.

Race 9. (17:25) Neds How Now Stakes (1200m)

#9 – Geist @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Geist scored a win at Randwick last start against a hot field, so there is nothing wrong with that form going forward.

The Cummings-trained four-year-old has experience racing at Caulfield, including a placing from two starts.

55kg helps and we’re expecting her to be hitting the line with power.
