Caulfield horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:30) Longboard Accounting Handicap (1600m)

#2 – Cumberpatch – Bet Now

Cumberpatch has been around the mark all season and his win at Sandown two starts back is a good form guide.

The Price/Kent-trained gelding didn’t fire at Moonee Valley last time out, but the conditions didn’t suit and he should be better on this surface.

Expect a good run with Damien Oliver riding.

Race 2. (13:05) Arrowfield Living Legends BM78 (1200m)

#7 – Legionnaire – Bet Now

That was a big run from Legionnaire fresh up and he has only improvement to come this season.

The John Moloney-trained four-year-old finishing second behind Express Pass, and that form stacks up nicely for this race.

It won’t take him long to win and it’s another good ride for Oliver.

Race 3. (13:40) For Living Legends 3YO (1000m)

#9 – Forever Free – Bet Now

Forever Free is a speedy filly that is unbeaten after three starts. The Ellerton/Zahra-trained filly scored wins at Ballarat, Caulfield and Morphettville last season, and she showed good speed in all.

She gets to the front with ease and runs the field into the ground. It bodes well for another good run over the 1000m here.

Look for a betting push on race day.

Race 4. (14:15) The Henley Homes Handicap (1100m)

#6 – Octane – Bet Now

Octane is rising up the grades impressively and after notching three consecutive wins, he should go close.

The Phillip Stokes-trained gelding capped off consecutive wins with a quality victory at Flemington last start. The one-length win holds him in good stead against this level of opposition.

He is a seven-time winner and he could add his eighth.

Race 5. (14:55) PFD Food Services BM90 (1400m)

#11 – Red Heeler – Bet Now

Red Heeler is a talented type that showed plenty of ability during her first campaign. The five-year-old mare owns three wins from six starts, including two at this distance.

She meets an even field for her return and although she might want more distance, running over the 1400m is ideal fresh up.

Expect each-way odds from bookmakers.

Race 6. (15:35) John Moloney Stakes (1400m)

#2 – Aidensfield – Bet Now

Aidensfield was unlucky not to win at Moonee Valley last start. The Lindsay Park-trained filly was caught wide throughout the race, and she stuck on gamely.

That second placing followed two quality wins to open her career, so we are confident of her ability at this level.

The daughter of Dissident will rise through the grades and winning at stakes level is highly likely.

Race 7. (16:15) Catanach’s MRC Foundation Cup (2000m)

#9 – Orderofthegarter @ $4.60 – Bet Now

Orderofthegarter looked good last start when running second behind Al Galayel at Caulfield, and he could go one better.

The imported son of Galileo hit the with purpose and he was a touch unlucky not to get the job done close to the line.

Punters have taken the opening odds and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him start much shorter on race day.

Race 9. (17:25) How Now Stakes (1200m)

#6 – Lyre – Bet Now

Lyre finished nicely for second at Caulfield behind Diamond Effort and there is nothing wrong with that form.

She hasn’t won for a while now, but the Freedman-trained mare is capable at her best. Her form has come around some of the best, and she is rarely far away.

Look for each-way odds and she gets every chance from barrier three.
