Caulfield horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:45) Glynn Bramich Memorial BM90 (1100m)
#2 – How Womantic @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
How Womantic fell in to score at Moonee Valley last start, but the short let-up would have done her some good.
The four-year-old mare is a five-time winner from six starts, which is a great record at this stage of her career.
She deserves attention and deserves to be well-backed again.
Race 2. (13:20) MRC Pin & Win BM78 (1400m)
#12 – Grand De Flora – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Danny O’Brien-trained mare hasn’t done much wrong in winning four of her eight career starts.
She is coming off an awful performance at Caulfield, but she pulled up with a problem and punters should forgive that effort.
Craig Williams rides from the inside draw, so we are confident of a form reversal.
Race 3. (13:55) Peter Comley BM84 (2000m)
#3 – Le Baol – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old import looked good when winning at Sandown last start, which was his first start in Australia.
Now with Lindsay Smith, the son of Orpen faced some good fields in France, which included a recent win over 2400m.
Carrying 61kg isn’t easy but he appears to have a nice future.
Race 4. (14:30) Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m)
#3 – Runson @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Punters often get good odds with Runson, and that could be the case on Saturday. He is coming off a third placing at Caulfield behind Diamond Effort, which was a good effort.
He might be an eight-year-old, but he owns 10 wins and nine placings. That is a lengthy and impressive career, so he demands respect.
Expect a good run from barrier three.
Race 5. (15:10) Here For The Horses Handicap (1400m)
#7 – Windstorm – Bet @ Sportsbet
Windstorm went close behind Travimyfriend last start and he could turn the tables this time around.
The four-year-old is a five-time winner from eight starts, so the ability is there and he won’t take long to win in Melbourne.
Drawing barrier four should see him settle well and hit the line with authority.
Race 6. (15:50) Neds Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m)
#4 – Flying Award @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Flying Award was terrific when finishing second fresh up at Caulfield. He went down by a nose to Immortal Love, and he was always going to improve with time and distance.
Rising to 1400m is ideal and it’s good to see Damien Oliver stay in the saddle. That is a good sign for punters and he looks like a nice type in the making.
Punters should expect each-way odds.
Race 7. (16:30) Schweppes Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m)
#8 – Mozzie Monster @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Mozzie Monster had some excuses when running third behind Odeum at Caulfield last time out.
The race didn’t go to plan for the favourite, but his two wins prior were good, and it’s good to see her backing up a week later.
That implies she’s ready to go and she gets a light weight and a good barrier.
Race 9. (17:45) Evergreen Turf Handicap (1700m)
#8 – Nonconformist @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
It was an impressive return to racing for Nonconformist, which rattled home to run third on this track.
The Graeme Begg-trained gelding excels over the longer distances and he showed that last season when winning three from six starts.
He has many wins in store this season, and he could start on Saturday.
