Coolmore Classic Form Guide & Tips
1. Hinged ($8.50)
Hinged is always around the mark, hence the odds. She gets the services of James McDonald and she settles on the pace, so she’s worth including in selections.
2. Annavisto ($6)
Melbourne form should hold up well enough in the feature race. She looked good winning at Flemington and she’s the worthy favourite.
It’s an open field, so we can’t have them all, but Annavisto is one of them.
3. Hope in Your Heart (Best Each Way – $7.50)
Six wins from 20 starts and she has come of age this season, with three wins from her last five starts.
She won nicely at Randwick last start and a repeat of that performance sees her push them close at each-way odds.
4. Mustang Valley (Best Roughie – $20)
The Kiwi should have won last start when shut out for room along the inside of runners.
We thought she would be much shorter with bookmakers, so jump on the $20 and include her in all bet types.
6. Mirra Vision ($26)
She has only one second-up win, so we can’t have her in selections. We need to see her return to winning form before we start backing her again.
7. Purplepay ($26)
A European mare with four wins and four placings from 13 starts. She might need time, but watch for any late betting moves.
8. Expat ($18)
Most of her best form has come against easier opposition. She would need to find another length to take it out.
9. Ruthless Dame (Best Bet – $7.50)
Ruthless Dame is our best bet based on her excellent recent form. She won her first two starts before placing behind Jacquinot and Sunshine in Paris.
She might be racing against older horses, but she gets 52.5kg on her back, and the odds are too good to ignore.
10. Sheeza Belter ($12)
The former Queenslander is better than her last two starts reflect, so she could be worth including in first four selections.
William Pike rides and she has been specked from an opening quote of $16.
11. Excelida ($27)
Better when third last time out but she’s another runner that needs to lift.
12. Larkspur Run ($46)
Second behind Hope in Your Heart last start. Drawing barrier 17 doesn’t help and that could extinguish her chances.
13. Yearning ($13)
Dropping to 52kg could see her best form return, but unlikely to happen against this hot field.
14. Espiona ($9)
The Waller-trained mare returned to form last start. She has yet to win or place in three starts at Rosehill, which is enough to leave her out.
15. Times Square ($51)
A former French runner who won over 1400m last time out. An interesting runner, but the odds suggest she won’t be winning.
16. More Prophets ($81)
Not running well enough to win at Group 1 level.
17. Torogene ($18)
Second behind Espiona last time out. Hit the line well enough but we don’t rate that race very highly.
18. Pride of Jenni ($31)
51kg is ideal but we prefer to back her in easier races.
