Cranbourne horse racing tips
Race 1. (18:30) Wilson Medic Maiden (1200m)
#7 – Feelings – Bet Now
Feelings could help the early feelings of punters by winning the opening race on Friday night.
The Lindsay Park-trained three-year-old finished fourth on debut at Mornington last August and has been in the spelling paddock since.
She hasn’t had any trials to prepare for this run but she’s going to get a good run from barrier two and be right in the thick of the finish.
Race 2. (19:00) Cranbourne Hyundai Maiden (1000m)
#7 – Hummalong – Bet Now
Hummalong is a well-bred filly by Hallowed Crown x. Humma Mamma and she has already left some nice types.
The John McArdle-trained runner ran second on debut at Moe before handling a heavy track at Cranbourne when running third.
That run came in July and she has been patiently waiting for drier track conditions. Those come here and we’re expecting her to run well in a fresh state.
Race 3. (19:30) Core Protective Group Maiden (1600m)
#4 – Office Jim – Bet Now
Office Jim hasn’t done much wrong throughout his career, which includes three placings from four starts.
The Anthony Freedman-trained three-year-old is knocking on the door after running second on this track last start.
He finished only a neck behind the winner and he will only grow in confidence following that run.
Punters should be backing him come race night.
Race 4. (20:00) De Bortoli Wines Maiden (1400m)
#6 – Prosecutor – Bet Now
That was a tidy effort on debut for Prosecutor, which finished a nose behind the winner at Cranbourne.
The Shea Eden-trained colt by Star Witness was just behind Zorro Macho on that occasion and he could go one better here.
Drawing barrier nine could make it tricky but running over 1400m should give jockey Damien Thornton enough time to find some cover.
He looks a type that could rise through the grades nicely.
Race 5. (20:30) Mercedez-Benz Mornington BM64 (3000m)
#2 – Only A Mother – Bet Now
Only A Mother has been good in defeat of late and rising to the 3000m could work in his favour.
The Jarrod Robinson-trained stayer is coming off consecutive second placings at Mornington and Hanging Rock.
The Mornington placing will hold him in good stead for this and there isn’t much depth to this field.
A negative is the 60kg but he’s only 5kg above the bottom weighted runner.
Race 6. (21:00) Highview Accounting Services BM64 (1600m)
#6 – Mrs Sippy – Bet Now
Mrs Sippy scored a gutsy win on this track last November and she could return to that winning form this Friday night.
The Henry Dwyer-trained four-year-old is a two-race winner from 12 starts and she is coming off a handy third placing at Moonee Valley.
Form out of The Valley is often a good punting guide for Cranbourne and we wouldn’t be leaving her out of calculations.
Race 7. (21:30) Tab Long May We Play BM64 (1400m)
#9 – Wild Choice – Bet Now
Richard Laming lines up the well-bred son of Shamexpress which did enough at Sale fresh up to warrant attention here.
The three-year-old was a winner at Mornington in August when scoring emphatically by six lengths.
He wasn’t able to repeat the dose a month later when finishing fourth at Mornington as the odds-on favourite. However, he’ll be better for the experience and should run well in this.
Race 8. (22:00) Procon Developments BM64 (1200m)
#5 – Scipio – Bet Now
It took seven starts for the Danny O’Brien-trained gelding to get off the mark but he did it well.
The son of All Too Hard scored by just under a length at Cranbourne last start and he fought back gamely to win.
This isn’t much of a rise in class and with a jockey in Fred Kersley, who is riding confidently, he could double down and win again.
