Cranbourne horse racing tips

Race 1. (17:50) Mercedes-Benz Mornington Maiden (1000m)

#2 – Colliver – Bet Now

Colliver could take advantage of this field after posting an improved second placing at Cranbourne last start.

The four-year-old gelding has experience on this track which helps and although drawing barrier nine isn’t ideal, this field isn’t overly strong.

He should be tough to beat and could pay a nice price with bookmakers.

Race 2. (18:30) Designer Coolrooms Maiden (1000m)

#14 – It’s Meant To Be – Bet Now

Drawing barrier 13 isn’t ideal for the four-year-old returning here, but he has some ability.

Trained by Shane Nichols, the son of Danerich ran well for second on debut at Bendigo and that came on an unsuited heavy surface.

Has had a trial to prepare for this run and given that he has a trial win on this track in April, he won’t find running this track problematic.

Should be going close – just needs luck.

Race 3. (19:00) Jumping Racing Association Maiden (2600m)

#11 – Miracle – Bet Now

It wouldn’t quite be a miracle if Miracle won, but bookmakers should be offering juicy odds.

The five-year-old mare has placed in three of her seven starts, including a third placing on this track last time out.

She was only 1.6 lengths behind the winner and she should enjoy running over 2600m. That could help her finally get over the line in first position.

Race 4. (19:30) Thoroughbred Breeders Maiden (1500m)

#6 – Irish Pardon – Bet Now

Irish Pardon didn’t show much when sixth on debut but quickly improved to finish third last start.

The three-year-old gelding was beaten by 4.5 lengths but he held his ground nicely in the straight and there was good merit in the run.

Rising to the 1500m looks suitable and he could pay a good price with bookmakers.

Race 5. (20:00) Troa Supporting Owners BM64 (1500m)

#4 – Ocean Heart – Bet Now

The Maher/Eustace team lines up Ocean Heart, which showed her potential when winning at Hamilton two back.

She scored by 2.3 lengths in October before battling for second last time out at Ballina. That run holds plenty of merit and she’s going to get a good run in transit from barrier two.

The small field suits and she should be well-backed to win.

Race 6. (20:30) Victorian Jockeys’ Association Maiden (1300m)

#12 – Vapid – Bet Now

Vapid isn’t far off a win after producing consecutive second placings this season. The three-year-old filly ran close last start and she’s close to a win.

Her first placing came at Kyneton when she sat on the speed and showed good heart in the straight.

Anything similar to that run would see her fighting out the finish here.

Race 7. (21:00) Racing Industry Association BM64 (2080m)

#6 – Sukoot – Bet Now

Danny O’Brien lines up the five-year-old gelding which is a model of consistency with two wins and six placings from 14 starts.

The son of Savabeel enters this race having won fresh up this campaign and backed that up with three consecutive placings.

Drawing the inside barrier will ensure a good trip throughout and we’re expecting a top effort once again.

Race 8. (21:30) Vic On-course Bookmakers BM64 (1000m)

#6 – Heka Express – Bet Now

Heka Express could rise through the grades following her win at Ballarat last time out.

The Corstens-trained filly scored by five lengths in a dominant display and she could have a nice future ahead.

Drawing barrier 12 won’t make it easy over this distance, but she jumped and led throughout last start, so expect something similar here.

Race 9. (22:00) Australian Trainers’ Association BM64 (1200m)

#4 – Cincinnati Red – Bet Now

That was an impressive win at Seymour last start and she could kick on with it now.

The Corstens-trained runner doesn’t make it a habit of winning, but she has placed three times second up and could go well again here.

She has good experience on this track and the inside draw to help. Should be able to go close.
