Cranbourne horse racing tips
Race 1. (17:15) Skye Excavations Maiden (2025m)
#8 – Perennial @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Peter Moody-trained four-year-old is coming off back-to-back second placings and she could go one better.
She owns five placings from seven starts and although yet to win, her recent form is tidy enough to warrant attention.
Drawing barrier two is ideal and punters have bet her early.
Race 2. (17:45) Procon Developments Maiden (1400m)
#1 – Designs @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Designs ran fourth on debut at Sale and she should go close with natural improvement. The Freedman-trained filly was only 1.2 lengths behind the winner and the early betting support is ideal.
Drawing barrier nine is the only negative but with the in-form Jye McNeil in the saddle, she should be able to go close.
Race 3. (18:15) Aus Future Communications Maiden (1600m)
#5 – Canadian Rockies @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Graeme Begg-trained gelding is coming off a fifth at Echuca and although yet to show his best form, it could come here.
He should appreciate the rise in distance and the early betting support is a good sign for punters. After opening at $4.80, his odds have firmed steadily throughout the week.
We are expecting another solid run.
Race 4. (18:45) Frankston Sand Soil Maiden (1200m)
#2 – Hello Sunshine @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Mike Moroney lines up the four-year-old mare that looked good when running second on debut at Kyneton.
The daughter of Jimmy Choux is bred to handle longer distances, but she showed enough when sprinting on debut.
The wide draw hurts but she warrants attention.
Race 5. (19:15) Mercedes Mornington BM64 (1200m)
#8 – Fundraiser @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Money could be gathered up by Fundraiser, which scored a fresh up win last season and that bodes well for this race.
The four-year-old gelding is a son of Helmet that owns form against some smart types in the city. That form bodes well for this race and punters get value odds.
Race 6. (19:45) Tab Pinker Pinker Plate (2025m)
#8 – Carrie @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Carrie is an imported mare that has won her last two starts and she deserves a chance against this level of opposition.
The Danny O’Brien-trained mare is a three-time winner overall and her form has improved significantly since arriving in Australia.
Punters get each-way odds and they’re worth taking.
Race 7. (20:15) Browns Sawdust BM70 (1000m)
#2 – Condo’s Express @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Condo’s Express is running out of chances but he is good enough to allow one more this Friday night.
The four-year-old gelding is a two-time winner with five minor placings, and although his form has seen better days, a new track could help.
He has been running against smart fields and the longer straight at Cranbourne looks ideal.
Race 8. (20:45) Melbourne Cup Carnival Country BM64 (1400m)
#10 – Dune Grace @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Dune Grace ended his last campaign with consecutive victories at Sandown and he could return with a win.
The Jamie Edwards-trained gelding goes best at this distance with three starts for a win and a placing, so that bodes well.
He gets 1.5kg off his back and we’re not surprised at the confidence in the betting markets.
