Crown Oaks Form Guide & Tips

(1) Getta Good Feeling (Best Bet – $1.75)

Her win on Derby Day was excellent, and we believe that she will see out the 2500m distance.

The daughter of So You Think is bred to handle the staying distances, and although the odds are short, she will be running through multi bets.

She’s the standout Oaks filly.

(2) The Pearls (Best Roughie – $11.00)

Sydney form shouldn’t be overlooked, and she comes off a third placing in the Spring Champions Stakes behind two nice types.

It was a good effort, and we think she is a real threat to the favourite. James McDonald rides, and she will push forward and give punters a good sight.

(3) Spicy Lu ($8.50)

Spicy Lu is another on-pace runner, so tactics will be interesting. She held off Just a Journey last start, but seeing out the 2500m trip is a worry.

If she settles well, she could lead and hold on for a win or place. We’re happy to include her in our Crown Oaks trifectas.

(4) Just a Journey (Best Each Way – $10.00)

Has has yet to finish worse than second in four attempts this season, and she hasn’t had all favours in the run.

We expected her to grind past Spicy Lu last start, but she looks like a type that will get the distance. That’s a big attribute to have for the Oaks, so she goes in selections at the generous odds.

(5) Ethereum Girl ($17.00)

The daughter of Maurice showed good form earlier this preparation, but her most recent efforts haven’t been ideal.

Based on those runs, including a sixth at Flemington, we’re looking to other runners.

(6) Sheeza Diva ($27.00)

She was only fair in the Spring Champion Stakes, and we needed to see more from her. $27 is about as short as she’ll get.

(7) Strictly Business ($11.00)

Hit the line impressively to finish second behind Getta Good Feeling on Saturday, and it was the performance of a filly heading places.

We’re not sure if she can turn the tables on the favourite, but she goes in all bets. John Allen is a strong rider, which helps in the Oaks.

(8) After Summer ($27.00)

Having winning form at Flemington helps After Summer, but she defeated only four runners. She comes off a third placing behind Spicy Lu, so she might struggle to keep up.

She is a runner who could improve with a spell under her belt.

(9) Zouclaire ($81.00)

Runs the odd good race, but she’s not up to this level. Inside draw, but that’s where the positives end, hence the big odds.

(10) Voting Rights ($27.00)

Didn’t lose any admirers when third behind Getta Good Feeling on Saturday. Makes the quick back-up, and she is bred to get the trip.

We wouldn’t be overlooking her chances at $27, and the $4.50 to place is also worth a nibble.

(11) Morisu Ojo ($91.00)

Most of her best form has come at the provincials. Her form since arriving in the top class hasn’t quite been the same.

(12) Classic Gem ($19.00)

There has been some money for Classic Gem, who should enjoy the 2500m journey. Fourth in one of the main lead-in races, so the money looks well-placed.

We’ve found a few better, but posting her first win in the Group 1 Oaks would make for a good story.

(13) Janey Bopper ($126.00)

Connections are having a go, and good on them. However, we expect her to finish at the tail of the field.
