Crown Oaks Form Guide & Tips
(1) Treasurethe Moment (Best Bet – $3.00)
She is a star of the race track and she proved that when beating Powers of Opal last Saturday.
It was a fine performance and she has no worries about the rise in distance, which is why bookmakers have her as the favourite.
She relaxes beautifully and that’s her strongest attribute.
(2) Too Darn Discreet ($9.00)
We’re not leaving her out of calculations following three strong wins. She has toughness many of these don’t, and that works in her favour.
Rising from 2000m to 2500m won’t be an issue, and she could power over the top.
(3) Harlem Queen (Best Each Way – $7.00)
We’re inclined to believe Sydney form measures up well in Victoria, and it should at the Oaks level.
The daughter of Brutal won at Kembla Grange three back before placing behind Lady Shenandoah at Randwick, followed by a fourth behind El Castello.
El Castello was solid in the Derby, and there’s less depth to this field.
(4) Rag Queen ($26.00)
Not firing on all cylinders this preparation and we struggle to see how she could win. She’s best left for a much easier race.
(5) Powers of Opal ($3.70)
There was plenty of betting support for her last Saturday and she ran well for second behind Treasurethe Moment.
She didn’t lose any admirers and she is a classic staying type, and she could grind away and outstay the rest of the field.
She is a must-include in all bets.
(6) Pleasure Artist (Best Roughie – $11.00)
We’re sticking with Sydney form for Pleasure Artist, who won at Kembla Grange earlier this season before running behind Swiftfalcon and El Castello.
She’s not the most dynamic filly in the field, but she could settle back and run on well. That could be enough to see her pass most of the field.
Our only worry is passing the two favourites, but she’s worth a play at the odds.
(7) Talisay ($46.00)
Not loving her form since she won earlier this prep. It’s hard to see her finishing in the first few horses home.
(8) Femminile ($20.00)
An interesting runner who hasn’t been completely overlooked by bookmakers, which adds some intrigue.
She won at Morphettville last campaign before returning at Caulfield over 1400m. She has progressed up the distances since, including a third behind Too Darn Discreet over 2000m.
She’s a staying type, and she could figure in the finish.
(9) Killcare Beachgirl ($26.00)
The daughter of Too Darn Hot tried to lead all the way on Saturday but that’s tough to do at Flemington.
Her condition gave out over the final 200m, and although rising in distance can help front runners, she doesn’t appear to be relishing life in Melbourne.
(10) Noises ($81.00)
Form earlier this preparation was good at lower levels. Not fancied following an eighth.
(11) Hurry Curry ($26.00)
She gave Jamie Kah a headbutt on Saturday, forcing them both out of the race. Missing a crucial preparation run isn’t good, and for that reason only, we’re leaving her out.
However, follow her if she has another run later this spring.
(12) Inevitable Truth ($35.00)
Never too far away from the mark but we would have liked to see winning form. 6.8 lengths behind Treasurethe Moment, so she has some improving to do.
(13) Placid Pearl ($67.00)
Too good for them at Scone when breaking maidens, but this is a fair rise in class. We don’t think she’ll handle it.
(14) All Kinds of Folk ($151.00)
As the odds suggest, she will struggle. She’ll do well to beat a runner home.
