There’s some quality racing in store for punters this Wednesday with meetings at Sandown and Wyong where it’s Wyong Magic Millions Day.
We have picked out our best bets across the two meetings where bookmakers are offering good value.
Sandown free tips & form
Race 2. (16:30) Blue Star Print Maiden (1400m)
#9 – Yulong September @ $3.90 – BET NOW
The Yulong horses are always well-backed and this gelding is no different after opening at $4.40.
Trained by Darren Weir, the three-year-old by Camelot hasn’t had any trials to prepare for this run but the support is there and that’s a positive going forward.
The breeding is there and we’re confident he can make a solid start to his career.
Race 4. (17:30) Clanbrooke Racing BM64 (1500m)
#6 – Zou York @ $3.10 – BET NOW
Backed and beaten at Bendigo last start but there was merit in that run and he should shape up as a fitter type here.
The Mick Price-trained four-year-old had finished second at Pakenham prior to that and although he’s a winner of only one from 12 starts, he has been knocking on the door and there’s some confidence around.
Damien Oliver rides from barrier three and with the firm in from $3.40 to $3.10, he should be around the mark once again.
Race 5. (18:00) The Big Screen Company BM64 (1000m)
#7 – Du Well @ $3.20 – BET NOW
Du Well didn’t do well at her first two starts, but despite finishing seventh at Caulfield and then fifth at Hobart, the filly was backed in at $1.31 last start.
She was able to win that race at Mornington by two lengths and clearly the connections were confident of a big run. That confidence isn’t quite as high here at $3.20, but that’s a solid price for a clearly-talented type.
She could be a big firmer on the day.
Race 7. (19:00) Araza BM70 (1800m)
#3 – Benny Goes Berzerk @ $3.60 – BET NOW
The form line doesn’t read well for the five-year-old son of Street Boss but he has been taking on tough fields and the drop back to rating 70 helps.
His most recent win came in August when scoring at Cranbourne by a nose and although his form hasn’t been exceptional since, he has always been around the mark.
He will enjoy racing against this class and he should go close at each way odds.
Wyong free tips and form
Race 1. (13:35) BJP Plastering C1 (1000m)
#1 – Witherspoon @ $2.45 – BET NOW
Now’s the time when Witherspoon needs to show her true talent because punters are getting frustrated. The filly clearly has open-class ability but struggles to compete against the best juveniles around.
She did win well at Newcastle to break maiden status but she put in an ordinary performance behind Sunlight last start. She responded at the trials by winning at Wyong by 3.8 lengths and that bodes well for this.
$2.45 is a fair price given her ability.
Race 3. (14:50) Magic Millions In Jan Maiden (1350m)
#3 – Nindamos @ $3.10 – BET NOW
Punters should take notice of the James Cummings-trained debutantes which are well backed and Nindamos fits the bill.
The son of Exceed And Excel has had two trials for two fair efforts but has been backed in from $4.20 to $3.10. That’s a solid push and given the form of the stable recently, he has to go on top in this competitive affair.
Race 4. (15:25) Magic Millions Wyong Stakes (1200m)
#3 – Invincible Star @ $1.65 – BET NOW
Best horse in this field by some margin and her win at Rosehill last start was a good sign going forward. Her form prior to that had been a touch disappointing but it came behind the likes of Santa Ana Lane and Brave Smash.
She defeated a harder field than this last start and the form out of that should stack up beautifully. Punters will have to take short odds but many multi-bets will run through her.
Race 6. (16:45) Magic Millions Wyong Classic (1100m)
#1 – Unite And Conquer @ $1.70 – BET NOW
The current Magic Millions favourite comes into this with a big reputation and plenty of money on its nose.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, the two-year-old was a 3.3-length winner on debut at Randwick and bookmakers have installed the colt as the early MM favourite.
He has shortened from $2.40 to $1.70 for this, which is a massive move and we’re happy to follow it in.
