Punters get a double delight of racing action this Friday, which includes a meeting at Randwick and is followed by a night racing card at Moonee Valley.
The twilight card at Randwick features plenty of quality types and racing from Moonee Valley is excellent as usual. Our experts have picked their best tips across both meetings this Friday.
Randwick free tips & form
Race 1. (15:10) Twilight Racing Maiden Handicap (1250m)
#1 – A Million Dreams @ $3.80 – BET NOW
Three-year-old gelding having his third start after showing good ability at his first two outings. Trained by Gary Portelli, the son of Showcasing finished second on debut and went well behind a nice type last start.
His third placing behind Ljungberg should hold up nicely and jockey James McDonald is a good jockey to have in the saddle early on in the card.
Nothing wrong with the $3.80 on offer.
Race 2. (15:45) ANZ Bloodstock News BM70 (1550m)
#2 – Maid Marilyn @ $3 – BET NOW
Scored a gutsy win at Newcastle last start and she’s capable of kicking on with it now. The four-year-old mare has finished first or second in five of her nine starts and she deserves respect here.
Her run for second behind subsequent winner Spanish Dream bodes well for this and given that she’s from the Waterhouse/Bott stable, expect her to show plenty of speed from the barriers and be tough to run down late.
Race 4. (17:05) The Aviary @ Randwick Maiden (1150m)
#3 – Foxpack @ $4.40 – BET NOW
This is a tough race to judge the form of the debutantes but it’s tough to overlook the trial form of Foxpack, which comes into this with three consecutive trial wins.
Trained by John O’Shea, the filly by Foxwedge has won three straight trials at Warwick Farm and her only defeat came behind Santos, which is good form for this level of racing.
Getting the inside draw on debut is ideal and she’s paying a solid enough each-way price to be considered in this.
Race 6. (18:15) The Agency Real Estate BM76 (1150m)
#12 – Tell Me @ $3.10 – BET NOW
Coming into this race with back-to-back wins is Tell Me, which has escaped the handicapper and gets into this with only 54kg on her back.
The three-year-old filly scored a 2.8-length win at Canterbury two back which was followed by another victory on the same track. It was a much closer contest last start but she carried a heavier weight to victory.
She opened as the $3.40 favourite and we’re not surprised to see her shorten.
Moonee Valley free tips and form
Race 1. (18:30) Daemco Maiden Plate (1200m)
#2 – Beerz With Clint @ $3.90 – BET NOW
Beerz With Clint owes punters a few beers, given the amount of times he has promised to win but has come up short every start.
The Clinton McDonald-trained gelding looked promising early on in his career when running second at Mornington on debut and taking on the likes of Tony Nicconi second-up, but he has been costly at his last couple.
We’re tipping him because of the obvious ability he possesses, which would be good enough to take out this maiden.
Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (955m)
#1 – Matty @ $3.80 – BET NOW
Matty hasn’t quite shown the consistency that some punters have expected from the five-year-old, but he’s a gun around Moonee Valley and that must be taken into consideration.
He’s a two-time winner at this track and given his two-length win here two starts back, he’s in the right frame of mind to handle this field.
The big weight won’t be an issue over this distance and he gets a claimer in the saddle to help.
Race 7. (21:30) Draftkings BM70 (2040m)
#2 – Palazzo Vecchio @ $4.20 – BET NOW
The Mick Price-trained mare has won only two of her 14 starts but she has been around the mark her entire career and finds only a moderate field here.
Her recent form has come at this track with back-to-back third placings and the form around those placings should stack up well. She finished behind Rondalago last start but meets it better at the weights here.
Race 8. (22:00) Crown Resorts BM64 (1200m)
#5 – Booradley @ $5 – BET NOW
Booradley performs best when fresh and the five-year-old gelding has had a trial to prepare for this run.
The Lindsay Park-trained gelding only had two runs last campaign and he finished second fresh up, which bodes well for this and the inside draw will make it easier for him to hit top gear.
$5 is a fair price from bookmakers.
