December 26, 2017 – Boxing Day Horse Racing Tips For Caulfield and Randwick

Boxing Day has some great racing action scheduled this year and there’s nothing better than a punt after Christmas.

Caulfield and Randwick host quality meetings on Tuesday, which includes the Christmas Stakes at Caulfield and the Summer Cup at Randwick.

All odds are with Sportsbet – our No. 1 rated bookmaker. You can join Sportsbet by clicking HERE.

Caulfield free tips & form

Race 1. (13:25) Allan Wicks Handicap (1800m)

#6 – Netherfield @ $2.60 – BET NOW

Mick Price lines up the four-year-old which is coming off a win at Werribee earlier this month.

This is much harder here, but the son of Darci Brahma was good enough to run in the South Australian Derby last season and rising to 1800m is going to be ideal.

He drops right down in weight after carrying 60kg last start and the small field of six runners is going to suit his racing pattern.

Race 3. (14:35) Dennis Hanrahan Handicap (1600m)

#8 – Addison @ $11 – BET NOW

Punters shouldn’t read too much into the form of Addison last start as she was making impressive late ground.

The Lindsay Park-trained four-year-old finished 10th at Bendigo fresh up, but she was hitting the line with purpose and finished only 1.9 lengths behind the winner.

Her first two starts resulted in wins and they were better form guides moving forward.

She’s bred to handle the longer distances (Jimmy Choux x. Ruqqaya) and we’re expecting a top effort on Tuesday.

Race 4. (15:10) Frank O’Brien Handicap (1100m)

#1 – Cao Cao @ $8 – BET NOW

The form doesn’t look overly inviting for Cao Cao, but it’s much better than what that represents.

The three-year-old won at Moonee Valley by 2.75 lengths over a year ago and has since run in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.

He finished 10th on that occasion and has placed behind Azazel since, but his last start run at Moonee Valley wasn’t overly flash.

Dropping back from stakes level to this will help and bookmakers could offer good value for this talented type.

Race 5. (15:50) Ken Sturt Handicap (1200m)

#13 – Bella Martini @ $3.90 – BET NOW

Bella Martini has finished out of the money in only one of her five starts to date and she comes into this having won well at Moonee Valley.

The Hawkes-trained three-year-old controlled the pace to score by 2.25 lengths and despite facing a harder field here, she has taken on some slick types throughout her career.

She blitzed her rivals three starts back when breaking maiden grades by five lengths and that kind of speed will see her winning many more races.

Race 6. (16:30) Thebigscreencompany Lord Stakes (1700m)

#2 – Payroll @ $2.45 – BET NOW

Payroll capped off some consistent form with a win in the Eclipse Stakes last start at Sandown.

The Richard Laming stable is in form at the moment and Payroll is leading the way. The five-year-old finished second in the Matriarch Stakes at Flemington prior to that and form from that race has stacked up well.

The small field might make it hard for her to get a drag into the race, but she’s the class type of this field and is in winning form.

Race 7. (17:10) Christmas Stakes (1200m)

#4 – Merriest @ $4.80 – BET NOW

Merriest is a four-time winner from 15 starts and three of them have come at Caulfield.

The Danny O’Brien-trained four-year-old defeated the highly talented Petition three starts back on this track and has since finished second at stakes level behind Now or Later.

She had no luck in the Tristarc Stakes last start behind group one winner Global Glamour and she should find this easier.

Drawing wide in barrier 11 will likely force her to settle back and finish off strongly.

Randwick free tips & form

Race 2. (13:45) Theraces Handicap (1200m)

#1 –  Calculated @ $2.40 – BET NOW

The Chris Waller-trained runner went close at Randwick behind Savatiano last start and that form should translate well for this.

A three-year-old colt by So You Think, Calculated has stakes race experience when running ninth in the Up & Coming Stakes and although he didn’t run well, that experience should do him good.

He has experience on this track and although he’s giving weight away to some nice types, he should be too classy for them.

Race 3. (14:20) Tab Handicap (1000m)

#8 – Nonpareil @ $3.20 – BET NOW

The four-year-old mare looks like a weighting special at 53kg with Corey Brown in the saddle.

Having only two wins from 14 starts might put off a lot of punters, but she finished close up behind some nice types last campaign, including Test the World and Petrossian.

She always runs well fresh up with four starts for one win and two placings. That’s a good sign moving forward and she handles all track conditions.

Race 5. (15:30) Schweppes Handicap (1600m)

#4 – Queen Misty @ $4 – BET NOW

Queen Misty’s two runs this campaign have been solid and she drops back in grade for this after finishing third last start.

The Les Bridge-trained six-year-old has placed in both starts on this track which is a good record to have and she’s overdue a winning turn after placing in four of her previous five runs.

Les Bridge is training winners with frequency at the moment and that run could continue with solid each way chance Queen Misty here.

Race 6. (16:10) Summer Cup (2000m)

#8 – Black on Gold @ $4.80 – BET NOW

Black on Gold was a victim of circumstances last start when the track didn’t help his cause.

The Waller-trained four-year-old doesn’t enjoy the wet conditions and the late rain at Rosehill destroyed any chance he had.

Punters should look at his prior form, which included a win in the Topaz Preview and a second placing behind Interlocuter.

Waller has a big opinion of this runner and we’re expecting a bounce-back performance.
